Being a big fan of the Zalman flower I wanted to get one for the i5 but given my Coolermaster Black Widow case I was a little restricted in height. The 9700 size is a perfect fit but only comes with the 775 bracket by default. I sourced a Zalman 1155 bracket for £3 (amazing how little difference from the 775 bracket). Fits a treat and does a good cooling job

Currently have the i5 2500K @ 4.5+ using 1.28v - max temps around 68c with the Zalman and Artic Ceramique, where the stock kept hitting 81c (before I stopped it).

EDIT: Seems to be okay at 4.7+ with temps under 75c but needs 1.3+ volts

If you use some IC Diamond 24-Carat Thermal Compound on that cooler you will find it knocks another 5c-6c compared to the TIM you are using there and will also hold the cooler down to the cpu better and won't have a wiggle ;). Happy you are enjoying the cooler mate and again thanks for the hassle free transaction.

Best way to apply IC Diamond 24-Carat Thermal Compound is to use a 5.5mm pea size amount in the dead centre of the cpu and then lower the cooler over it. That was the best way and most effective in regards to a good contact and even core tempertures.

For socket 1155/1156, you will need to purchase the separately sold ZM-CS5A or ZM-CS5B mounting kit for installation onto socket 1155/1156. Which will cost you about £2 to £2.50 from other suppliers just google it.

Guys, just to reboot this thread...
So does the Zalman 9700 fit on a i5 or i7 on a 1155 MB?

Very interesting if so...... :)
