protesters burn us flag in london

Normally I wouldn't he bothered but to do it on 9/11 has really struck a chord with me and I'm sure many others who may do more than just talk about it on a forum.

So?

Why should we destroy our freedoms to take away someone else's?

One day you might want to protest and you'll be shot for it by a choice you helped make happen years before. (im not saying it will happen, simply a warning)

You keep on mentioning the burning of the Union flag? I must have missed that story, when are where did it happen?

Btw I think political statements CAN be offensive.

Americans burned/desecrated the UK flag during protests against the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

British protestors burned US flags (and Union flags) at various anti war rallies, CND demonstrations and other protests at various times in modern history.

The UK has no law against Flag desecration and only a few months ago a group of students burned the Union Flag in protest at the royal wedding and the monarchy.

The issue here is OMG they're Muslims, not OMG they're burning a flag.

Whilst I appreciate this. If I was to protest I would have more respect than to do it on a day like today.

The general public are going to see this as the Muslim communities giving a big $$$$ you to all the people that died that day. This really could escalate into something not very nice.

Why?

Are you American? Do you know someone who was killed in the attack?

I'm a British-American and I'm not offended by a bunch of fools looking for a reaction to their idiocy. Let them protest, let them burn what they like, who cares what they think or what they do.

Just ignore them, they'll go away soon enough as long as we quit legitimising them by paying attention and given them media air time.

Everyone has the right to protest.
However isn't setting things on fire, religious, political or otherwise against the law?

Stopping protests is dangerous. One day you may want to protest about something you feel strongly about.

But you're not stopping their protest if you allow them to do it, but to avoid giving them the publicity. Of course, you acknowledge it in some fashion, but leave them to it and get on with your day - it generally becomes an issue when people make it an issue.

Yeah just to clear things up im not against protesters or muslims. But anyone burning a US flag shouting that US are terrorists etc.., when people are paying tribute to those innocent that died, its pathetic.
