mmm, shiny new toys! :D
Have ordered a remote shutter, and a load of B&W filters to fit the 12mm. I also need to get a few spare batteries, and am waiting for the JNK leather skin for the E-P3 to be released. I am also considering getting a leather half case for it.

Fist impressions are really good. Lens is teeny tiny compared the the big DSLR lenses I am used to, yet really sharp and very well made. The touch screen focusing of the E-P3 is also surprisingly good and usable, especially for photographing hyperactive little nieces! ;)

Very nice, definitely something I'd like to own, if not buy. That 'grip' doesn't look much cop though? Without a strap that looks like it could get dropped a /lot/

That's without the grip. It comes with a small rubber grip that you screw in from the side. I prefer it without though and it isn't that hard to hold. Once I get the leather skin on it, it should make it easier to hold as well. :)

Shiny indeed. Do you know if the kit lens is any cop?

I presume the kit lens is the 14-42mm? (I got mine body only as I only need a 12mm and 100-300mm) If so, then yeah it is pretty good. Bought an E-PL1 for my wife the other week which comes with the same it lens, and it seems pretty decent. Build quality is a bit plasticy, but no more so than any Nikon/Canon kit lens. If you get on with primes, I would stick with the 14mm or 20mm pancake lenses instead tbh.

Aye, selling off my D200 at the moment and was planning on a D7000 but something smaller would actually be really handy as I'm constantly fighting with helicopter weight limits. Only really shooting landscapes these days so would want a superwide and something longer for panos.

The main reason for getting this is me and my wife are planning on walking from Mexico to Canada next year. 2650 miles over 4.5-6months, unsupported. So like you, the weight of everything is at scrutiny. I couldn't bare walking through some of the best scenery in the world without a decent camera, so this seems like a fair compromise. Not the lightest option ever, but very capable of taking good shots. Between the 12mm and the 100-300mm, I have landscapes and wildlife covered.

Yeah, it's a tempting idea. It'd have to be an additional camera I think though (couldn't give up macro and APS-C 10mm lenses), and can't really afford that at the mo.

You wouldn't have to. Macro lenses exist for mft, Panasonic do a 7-14mm lens which makes it wider than the 10-20mm, and if that doesn't float your boat, because there is no mirror box, you can get adapters for just about every lens ever. I plan on getting a Nikon F-Mount adapter, so I can use my macro lenses on it. ;)

Edit; Oh and because full frame lenses cover much more than you require for the 2x crop sensor, you can also get tilt shift adapters to make all full frame lenses tilt shift.

God, I really really want an E-P3. It has pretty much everything I want that's missing from my E-P1. So expensive right now though, ~£700 is too much for a micro four thirds right now IMO.

Yeah just added everything up and even with selling off my gear I'd be looking at a £1500 defecit for moving to micro 4/3. Good looking kit and probably very handy, but too expensive for me right now.

How you getting on with these MK?

I'm still considering buying some of the older (cheaper!) m43 equipment to have a play with, either alongside or instead of an update to a D7000.

Contemplating a g2/gf2 and 14mm pancake, with an eye to the 12mm if I fall in love.

One of the things with the m43 kit is the sneosrs haven't improved in the last 3-4 years so you don't give up much IQ wise going of an older camera.

Yeah, only seems to be the G3 with a new sensor (16MP). The G3 is actually quite tempting with the current £50 cashback and free Lightroom 3, just wish they were doing kits with the 14mm as well as 14-42. I'd probably pick up a used GF1/2 as well to see which size I got along with best then sell the other.
