I've been looking around at 328s but they seem to all be dogs and have stupid wheels fitted.

I spotted this 323i which is quite close to me and it looks to be what I want. Standard looking, understated and quick enough for me coming from 85hp.

It's a 99 so should be post nikasil issue but I'd double check the block to see. I'd prefer dark leather but it looks in acceptable condition, to me at least.

Assuming it isn't clocked and it checks out with the mot and hpi checks what else is there to look for in an old E36?

Would £2k be a cheap shot on that particular car?

Surely about a grand over priced? My mate only got a tad more than that for his genuine 60k mile purple '99 328i Sport with mint BBS Splits, LSD etc

That's the sont of information I need. It's hard to judge with so many different priced cars out there to be honest. Some are under a grand and some people want over three grand!

Lots of ropey piles of crap out there. With cars that old its often worth just chucking the price guide in the bin if you really want one and you manage to find one thats not a pile of rubbish.

Crikey - if I could pick up a mint 60k mile E36 328i with mint BBS splits for under £3k, I'd be over the bloody moon.

It looks tidy enough but the 323i is a pointless engine, fair enough if it was bargain basement but it's not. £2500 should buy you a very tidy 328i.

Was up for about 3 months on pistonheads for £4k ono but absolutely no interest at all, went for £2.8k on ebay in the end!

I want a 328i as it's the 'best' at that age but being relistic it would probably be wasted on me.

I can't find a decent 328i anywhere that I would buy without having to unmod it.

Apparently the intake from the M50 325i can help the 323 breathe a bit better so that could be done if it felt slow which I doubt it would.
