Hi gents,

Does anyone know of a site which has a list or any info on upcomming phone releases for either the later part of this year or 2012 ?

Basicly i just want to know if there are going to be any phones better than the SGS2 after xmas.

Yea thats what i guessed.

i can upgrade in Oct or my contract runs out in Jan 2012. so i dont know whether to get the SGS2 sometime soon or wait it out and see what develops

In the same exact boat. Really want something with a 720p screen not too fused about the rest of the tech but I think a dual core in a phone is more than enough let alone a quad which would just be a giant waste.

Thinking iPhone will probably be abit to much on a contract as is the case ever year which just leaves me with android. Have a SGS so thinking I should get something new so I think I might end up with something from htc.

You say that and somebody once said 640k was more than enough memory for a pc ;)

The point is, with planned mobile processors they plan to have a phone in 2014 with a processor 100 times faster than the current tegra 2.

Phones are going to be full blown 3d gaming consoles as well as 720p or 1080p video players plus don;t forget true mutlitasking where the quad core will shine.

Sony Ericsson Nozomi expected in early 2012 with a 720p 4.3" screen and dual core processor @1.5Ghz and 32gb storage.

You can never have enough cpu power IMO.

HTC titan or the 4.3" Windows Phone option from Samsung may be worth a look. Both of which will be around before christmas.

Edited :)

Actually only nVidia are touting a true quad core SoC for smartphones, the rest are going down the heterogeneous path (one to two large cores + lots of low power task/OS specific processors)

Thought Qualcomm was going to be first to market with a 2.5Ghz snapdragon quad core?

The Snapdragon S4 'Krait' devices set to be launched at the end of 2011. Qualcomm has said that the S4 devices will include 28nm quad core processors. The Krait Snapdragon S4 chip, with upgraded Adreno 225 GPU - will be able to display more fluid and faster graphics on your phone than even a PS3.

That quad is due in 2013 according to a leaked roadmap. Probably with one eye on Windows 8 and Android netbooks/tablets.

Smartphones will get dual core parts ranging from 1GHz to 1.7GHz. All 28nm Krait cores should overclock to ~2.5GHz so 100%+ overclocks here we come! (They'll be faster than Kal-El too :))

Actually, I seriously doubt we'll see 40nm quad core phones in the real world. Too much potential heat and battery drain :D
