i'm just in the process of moving all my tv to Virgin after having it with Sky.

Currently i have been paying:
Sky - £63pm which includes, HD, Sports, Documentries, Kids TV, Multi Room (no movies or music)

Virgin - £52pm which includes 50mb Broadband, Phone Line, 200 anytime minutes, M+ TV (which we don't use the TV)

Now as from Tuesday we will be having everything with Virgin for the following.
Multiroom incl 250gb Tivo box + V+ HD box
HD
Sky Sports
XL TV
Phone line M
50mb broadband

all this for £77pm. which i think is a brilliant deal as we will be saving over £30pm.

has anyone got the tivo box or can comment on the HD tv quality from virgin. Having never seen it before i'm intreagued as to what i will receive.

also i still have the Dlink 615 router and have been advised from the virgin 50mb team that the superhub isn't as good and i'm best keeping the setup i have. can anyone comment on this?

TiVo is great mate. The only thing about virgin media HD quality I have noticed is that it seems to vary depending on where you live.

Also its probably just because people don't set their TV up properly but HD on Sony Bravia TV's to me seems a bit grainy.

I have sky at home and install/service VM products. Although I personally think sky HD edges virgin media HD if i could get Virgin in my flat I would switch for TiVo any day of the week.

One think to bear in mind is that VM are rolling out QAM 256 across the country (currently QAM 64) which will allow for greater bandwidth. What they decide to do with it though I don't know to be honest however I have already suggested they lower the compression rather than filling it up with extra channels and other garbage that people don't want.

Oh and as far as Halesowen goes its one of the 'better' areas I have seen for quality :)

I cover the whole of dudley, stourbridge, kidderminster, redditch, west brom, oldbury, smethwick, wednesbury, wallsall, aldridge, wolverhampton and telford :)

Sounds like you have a good deal there. I have the 500gb Tivo from release and so far Im loving it. a lot more options than Sky HD. Still abit on the slow side but im sure a few firmware updates will sort that out at some point. Oh and I live in the B67 smethwick area.

I don't think I take enough advantage of the services tivo offers, it seems a bit slow to me sometimes.

Saying that I just phoned up to order a 4th box install and they told me they had an offer on. Apparently, it's £40 for a standard set top box install but they were offering the Tivo for just £49.95 with no other price for the box. I figured for an extra tenner I'd just get Tivo installed in my bedroom as well.

Although saying that I assumed I was getting the 500gb box but reading this there's apparently a 250gb box out now which is the one I guess I'll likely get?

Also, I live in the Kidderminster area so I'm guessing there's a small chance awinchurch might be doing my install. Small world.

Out of interest to the people that have multiple boxes/Awinchurch who i assume knows things aswell!

If i use the app to remote record and i have 2 Tivo boxes, does it record on both or does it randomly choose?

Good question. I don't know the answer but I'm still at work so I'll try to find out for you :)

It apparently gives you a serial number of the box it is going to be recorded in so I guess it us random. It is something virgin have overlooked as when it was launched it was supposed to be 1 TiVo per household but there was too much demand for multiroom TiVo.

Our TiVo guy is going to get the app team to look into it so hopefully you should be able to choose soon :)

£49.99 should get you a TiVo 500 mate. And yes it's possible it might be me :)

I've not heard of a Tivo 250gb box yet mate. Maybe someone confused 250 hours with 250gb?

That said as a virgin media employee i will always be the last person to find out these things :(

maybe, no one actually mentioned the box size on the phone. I actually read the 250gb from the original post in this thread so I assumed they'd brought the smaller size out!

I'm looking forward to getting it now, I think once it's in my room I'll get to grips with the benefits of its features a lot more :)
