Should I worry about...Supervolcanoes and Magnetic Shift.

Been reading that Bill Bryson book and its worried me a bit, now I wish I'd been left in ignorance, ignorance = bliss. I understand the yellowstone volcano is 28,000 years overdue so does that mean it could pop at any moment or has the rate of eruptions slowed down?

The book didn't go into detail on the shift, not sure if thats of any immediate danger...would anyone like to go into further detail on it so I can understand it more as a layman?

Yes but the problem would be most of western Europe would have to import almost all of their food for up to several decades. We're talking siberian style winters and summers like our current winters for that period (potentially). A few Icebreakers would work but the increase in shipping would have to be astronomical.

I watched a documentary about the shifting of the magnetic poles - this happens gradually but not with any severity in the northern hemisphere for mor than 100 years. it is not a sudden event so we will adapt as we need to.

Don't forget that it has happened to earth many times before also.

OP don't worry about it. I saw a documentary that explained what to do when this happens.

Make your way to China where governments will have built these super ships that'll take the wealthy elite, and a collection of stowaways, safely to Africa which will survive all this so you can start a new life. Don't forget to walk out on deck to a rising sun when you get there.
