Simple questions ...

Do you know what the PH of you liquid is?

Do you know why this is quite important?

Have you ever tested you liquid?

Please answer truthfully.

I dunno what mine is mate but its your ultra pure h2o.

Is is supposed to be around 6.0 - 7.0

I have no idea what it is - I'm using de-ionised with some of your clear uv blue, I've never checked the pH of my loop I just flush the system and change it every 9 months.

I say why.

We some times get questions from customer's why there dye fades or say the colour stains. We no this is because the PH of the liquid changes when it enter a loop that has not been flushed properly. The reason for this certain dye has a PH range what they will work in and if they go out of this range they either start to fade or Stain badly.

the PH all so effects plasticizer in tubing and with a good PH balance this is slowed right down. Hence why some people see build up and some don't.

I was thinking should we produce a double barrelled PH - / + system with PH testers for water coolers.

what are you thoughts. I know personally i do these tests my self but im quite a sod about my liquids in my own system and quite anal retentive about it.

I'd get one as long as it wasn't very expensive - can only be a good thing keeping it pH neutral.

It would not be expensive. Just need to work out costings. We get these questions once every few months our self.

In all honesty I recall back 10 years ago when I first delved into watercooling - 'coloured fluid' used to cause problems (gunking, discolouring blocks etc etc) - so have stayed clear in recent watercooling endeavours.

Just stick with either good old De-ionised/ Destilled water with a silver kill coil or recently switched to EC6 (purely as thats what EK recommend).

I've heard the pH term branded about and how it should be this and that, along with Delta etc - but never bothered with it tbh!

I don't have water cooling - but I know it's important because the pH should be such that your loop isn't a friendly place for things to grow.

You don't want it too acidic or it'll eat into your blocks, if i remember correctly slightly alkaline is preferable.

Not precisely, only use the strips but it is about 6.5 a few weeks ago. I know it should be more in the neutral zone though.

Yep

Try to test it with a ph paper strip about once a month.

I would be interested in something like that, depends exactly what it is and cost but I could see me using it.

14 day test

1 Drop of biocide per 1 Ltr, Liquid PH 7.4
Liquid still the same as the day i started the test

1 Drop of biocide Per 1 Ltr, PH Liquid 2.1
Liquid going cloudy and fading.

1 drop of biocide per 1 ltr, PH of liquid 10.1
Liquid starting to cloud and colour changing

3 drops of biocide per 1 ltr, PH liquid 7.4
Liquid clouding and colour changing

That is why your liquids fade, change colour, or mist .....

to fix it go to your local pet store buy a test kit and sort your liquids out

.

you may not the see the very well on the picture but ill leave them under test a little longer and you'll see the effects more.

I run mine at 6.3 PH, That's what PH it comes out of my RO unit, Tested it with my Electronic PH tester i use for my marine fish tank, When remixing my Salt minreals and PH stabilizer i have to test upto 30 times per bucket so it was worth every penny.

Andrew said he was coming upto yours sometime this week mick, Please put some Dye into his Drink hehehe.

I never test my coolant and I couldnt care less as long as it looks good.

However.

seeing as I use your coolant, I would expect it to be at whatever the correct level is

Yeh it should be , this post is really about water + dyes not coolants. The coolants should auto balance, well mine should i don't know about any one else.

I just get the odd email complaint about loss of colour so this post rely is to give a very simple explanation of some of the reasons why that happens.

lol, same here.

All i know is my feser aqua is safe to drink. Woke up in the night boiling and needed water desperately and it was the only thing i could reach so downed a litre (and £7 :mad:

Buffer solution? I have vague recollections from biology of compounds that act to bring the pH towards a given value when it's disturbed. Clever idea if so.

No idea what the pH of my loop is. Nothing seems to be dissolving.
