moving to israel

My bro was telling me about the druze people who live in certain parts of israel, some of the friendliest people he's ever met.

Yeah, he's told me that tea is something of a ritual in the morning at work, prior to any work being done.

Would you move to Israel if you inherited a very nice apartment in Tel Aviv mortgage free, and you were eligible for Israeli citizenship? Or would you be too scared of bombs and the like?

No, and it wouldn't be for fear of being bombed

No, I'd simply rent the apartment out.

Indeed, or if this isn't a great idea in Israel I would look at selling it.

When was the last time Tel Aviv was a target for terrorism?

The whole country is a target for terrorists big and small. The president of Iran keeps ranting about wiping them off the face of the earth. The Cairo embassy just got ransacked, Iran wants to nuke them, Turkey is threatening them with warships...

I should think not...:D

@spawn, Israel is a beautiful country with some wonderful people, don't judge the entire country and it's population by the hardline loons in Govt.

He's quite right.
It's a beautiful and fascinating country. Most of the people in Israel proper are normal, friendly , kind and welcoming just like anywhere in the world.

Some of the people, and that includes the government are foul. In Israel proper there is not a general feeling of fear of terrorist attacks, in fact there is more such fear in the UK.
In the occupied territories there is a pervasive atmosphere of hostility.

I visit the country regularly, only there a few months ago. Would I live there as it is now?
Not a chance.

Not a chance I would never live in country that killed thousands of lives and forced people form there homes, then offers free housing and rent to foreigners to make sure they can never return.
I would never live there until the Israeli government get serious about peace and stop treating Palestinians and its neighbors like worthless souls.

and yet its israel with all the nuclear bombs. not iran.

A nation in the middle east with nuclear bombs invites others to have them to, Iran will soon have them and that will force Saudi Arabia to have them...so on.

If we are shown to allow Israel but not Iran, it only gives them more reason for it.

This will be nothing like the cold war, i will bet they will be used, heat makes people inherently angry.

who says anything about us allowing it?

Israel have destroyed two nuclear programs in the past, and if it was them behind suxnet very possibly put a huge dent in a third.

and iirc in all three of them we've been selling them kit/information/supplies illegally or at least very shadily to get their nuclear programs started.

Well Israel still has nuclear weapons, pretty much implying we wont stop them.

Iran's little program started mostly because of a rogue Pakistani scientist telling people where to get centrifuges and the like for a cost of the information (cant entirely remember the details), of course the Russians cant pass this situation up so they have made sure to keep Iran in a good position.

They certainly don't want to lose another oil contract over us waging war before they can resign the next one.

But whatever, if this is the style of war (a game basically) that we are going to be used to, then i don't care, i don't really like the Middle east anyway.

Of course its never the case, someone will eventually find it humorous to use a nuclear bomb in one of our ports.

Your historical knowledge is awesome, you must be glad to live in the UK where that's never happened!
