Yep we know we're on the same wave length here. I don't know if it's me, my connection, my reactions or whatever but early on getting that last hit before the minion dies is a real art of timing - again champion dependant.

I found this on the forums which may be of interest particularly to the newer players, basically its a suggestion that lol has a tips post everytime you login and then people have put tips which have been compiled at the top. Most of them are common sense but worth the look

Is there any way yet of transferring a US account to an EU one?

When the game first came out I bought a load of points on a US account I created, then they released the EU version

I can't say I've ever noticed you have too many problems with last hitting to be honest tals. I always enjoy games with you on my team :)

EDIT: WTF!!!! My queue timer just finished and I got an error message saying that there was a problem with my client version!? Now the queue is up to 21 minutes...

Nope. You can contact customer services about it, but I don't think anyones been successful with it.

Vince, you don't need to talk if you do come on mumble. Presumably you play the game with sound so you can just listen to what people are saying and type responses :)

edit: on the topic of last hitting there really isn't an excuse for missing farm. When I'm playing as support and I see the ad miss farm for no reason other than they're randomly auto attacking or poking the opposing player for pretty much no reason it really gets on my nerves. I'll then last hit a few creeps and before I know it the ad is moaning. Bloody solo queue.

Harassing the opposing carry can be fine, depending on the lane situation but it can often force the lane to be pushed because the opponent isn't pushing which unless you get a kill isn't worth it a lot of the time as it opens you up to ganks. It's kind of swings and roundabouts but I'd rather have a farmed ad carry in the long run.

either way I want to get a game going with the ocuk guys but have had no sucess just yet. In fact I think i will log in now and see if I cant work this mumble out.... I guess the lvl 30 guys go in the lvl 30 ranked channel?
 
I'm trying to figure out the general best picks for the following roles, are they about right? I've omitted a fair few champs as I have not played with or against them.

AD Carry: Ashe, Cait, Trist, Corki, Ezreal, MF, Vayne
AP Carry: Annie, Brand, Anivia, Fiddle
Support: Taric, Sona, Soraka
Offensive support: Janna, Morgana, Lux, Nidalee
Tank support: Alistar, Maokai, Galio, Cho, Leona
Tank: Amumu, Mord, Nunu, Rammus, Singed, Blitz
Tanky DPS: Jarvan, Jax, Sion, Trundle, Warwick
DPS: Gangplank, Trynd, Nasus, Lee Sin, Garen, Renekton
Squishy DPS: Nocturne, Katarina, Pantheon


I'm trying to get a picture of what other champs I should get some practice with, as I have mainly been playing trough the support to tank spectrum and generally suck at ranged/AP/Melee carries. I'm probably to nervy to ever try jungling. :p

Depends what people are playing. Usually channels 1-8 are populated by different groups playing normals then maybe 1-2 groups will be playing ranked.

If you're looking for a game there's a 'ready to join a game' channel which you can sit in and people will come ask you to play. Just set your comment to 'Vince on OcUK' or something so it's clear you're not a total randomer :)
 
You missed an AD carry that is better than most on your list, Kayle.
AP Carry >Orianna< Karthus, Kassadin, Kennen, Soraka
take Mord out of the tank list imo, he cant initiate because you can just ignore him and kill the carries around him. You can add Gragas to the tank list though, good tanks have a decent initiate ability. Tanky dps needs to add irelia and lee sin too.
Squishy people, add akali and Talon. A decent noc will be tanky dps though.
 
I'm still playing like crap if I'm honest, I don't know why. I mean I'm not super super bad but I can tell I'm not as good as before and I don't know why. I still love the game and what it's about but just losing more than winning now.

Ranged AD carries - spot on.

AP Carry - Fiddlesticks isn't a very strong laner so I wouldn't look at him. Annie, Anivia, Brand, Cassiopeia, Nidalee, Morgana and Malzahar are probably the top AP carry picks.

Support - Taric, Sona, Soraka, Alistar and Janna are generally the main support characters. Other characters like the ones you've listed can be supports but aren't that well suited to the role as they require more farm.

Tank wise, its a bit difficult as a number of champs like GP, Irelia, WW, Udyr etc can build pure tank. Of the ones you listed I'd say Malphite and Singed are the only ones to really play in a lane. Morde is more of an off tank ap bruiser hybrid thing.

Rest of the categories are more or less right but again it can really depend how you opt to build a lot of them.

Ahem, My Pantheon ain't that squishy :mad: He's a bruiser to me.
 
After what Deiwos said I'm going to try jungling more even if I fail and even if it's in normals I don't care. I've always wanted to jungle ever since I first played and I loved jungling up until that game I played with Tals I don't know if you remember if but I just couldn't do anything, it seemed every lane needed help and I didn't know what to do.

Trundle, Noc, Udyr I'm going to play as (after trying out Riven :D) maybe even Amumu ^_^

Still can't settle on my next purchase. Played 2 games as Singed, and we won both and I really enjoyed playing him, so I think he will become my main tank (though he will probably be nerfed soon due to all the moaning).

Taric is my go-to support, but I enjoyed the few games as Janna I have had, and also want to try out Sona. Alistar always gets banned in ranked right? Not that I am that fussed about ranked tbh, enjoy the 5-man normal premades I play in at the mo fine.

Then it's deciding between Gragas or Maokai.

I'm just not an offensive enough player for carries, especially as most are squishy.

I'd probably go for Udyr. So strong at every stage of the game.

I jungle quite a lot with Tryndamere, he's pretty good fun and very very easy to jungle with, also pretty good ganks with red at level 4 especially with all the damage he puts out.

Amumu is a decent jungler but very predictable. If he wants to do his jungle quick he basically has to start at blue and if your team is complete fail then you will get ganked at it! - Happened to me in my last game ¬_¬

We are talking best right? I mean for AD's you just listed all of them. In your categories the top 3 would look like this (listed in order of preference where possible)...

AD Carry: Caitlyn, Ashe, Tristana
AP Carry: Orianna, Morgana, Brand
Tanky AP (for double AP strats mainly, or as counter picks): Gragus, Karthus, Galio
Support: Janna, Sona, Alistar
(Weird Support choices?): Gangplank, Lux, Nidalee

The rest of your stuff is a bit weird. But I'll try interpret it the best I can:

Jungle (Tank): Amumu, Lee Sin, Jarvan
Jungle (DPS): Lee Sin, Gangplank, Nocturne
Tanky DPS: Jax, Irelia, Garen
Assassin: Talon, Akali, Poppy
SoloTop Tanks: Cho'gath, Singed, Nasus

That looks good to me (anything listed in the number one slot is banworthy), well except the Tanky DPS category because there are much more then 3 viable choices for Tanky DPS solo top. So I'd like to give a little nod to WW, Udyr, Lee Sin and Renekton here :D

Oh and you could probably switch Morgana and Gragus' places and no-one would notice, but I feel Morgana is just incredibly strong on her own merits right now.
