Hi guys

Just bought an AC7 from the MM but unfortunately it arrived with a broken fan shroud and fins:

Now the seller has already refunded me, so that's no issue, but I have a couple of questions:

- Are there any replacement fan-only products that would fit? If so, please point me in the right direction.

- Would you carry on using this despite the bent fins? Does it make much difference?

Thanks.

For the price of it you could just buy a new one (circa £20 new).

The fins should just bend back into place, but you will want to check that the heat pipes haven't been damaged too. The mounting bracket looks a little twisted too, though that could just be the angle of the picture

I have 2 FP7's sitting going spare, though they are the rev.1 editions. If you need to save money and you can wait (a few weeks until I should have MM access) I could pop my coolers up. Alternatively if your confident the rev.1 fans would fit that could be an option.

Edit: I can also put pics up of how the fins should look if that would help? Fairly sure the bottom 3-4 fins are angled down the way from stock.

super glue? lol

I have some epoxy resin (awesome if used correctly) but the problem is there's no easy way to secure the surfaces while they're curing.

I think the mounting bracket's ok, though the clips don't seem to hold it onto the metal very securely.

I have no idea if the rev.1 edition fan would fit, I presume they upgraded the fan in rev.2? Or were they just socket changes?

That would be great actually, thanks. I'll probably just bin it and buy another from MM or maybe new, but I'd still be interested to see if this is salvageable.

I wouldnt bother trying to bend it back or anything - if you got a refund just buy a new one.

The mounting pins themself look bent in the picture so it'll never sit snugly as a new one would.

Straighten the fins and zip tie the fan to the cooler . even better do push pull . If you use the long thing ties you can easily fix both fans to the cooler (how i had it setup as the standard fan was rubbish )

Thanks very much lord filbuster, I plonked the fan on the rev1 I have as there was a small black locking pin missing from the packet you gave me. Was going to use the heatsink I already had anyway so it's all good...however if you have any idea where it is I may come and rob it from you :p. Thanks again.
