Lol fickle politicians. You can just see the headlines next week, Boris abused for queue jumping at airport.
This story is a lie by Kelis. Imagine the scene - American singer gets to customs and stands in the line. Now, what looks odd to you about that?
1. They normally rush celebrities through separate lines because it's more hastle than it's worth not doing so; and
2. She's American - she wouldn't have been in the EU line. So that person she pushed in front of wouldn't have been British. Those people in the queue who stood and did nothing - also not British.
3. Where was Kelis' entourage? She's travelling to the UK for a big gig... on her own?
The custom officer's reaction was unclear - he was probably laughing at the stupidity of the comment made by the man. So the story is either entirely made up or involves no British people being racist in any case.

After my initial post I thought about it and this is somewhat unnecessary from her, Britain is not perfect on racial issues but to profile an entire nation on the apparent interaction with one member of the nation is both daft and insensitive.
Although if we're indulging in sweeping (and often baseless) stereotypes Americans traditionally seem to have difficulty telling the difference between UK and Australian accents so maybe that dovetails with the point raised below.
Silly cow. I just found this interesting little tidbit:
This is true as far as I'm aware, at least in every airport I've been in (although that's far from an exhaustive list) there are separate queues for EU and non-EU by the time you get to passport control. Before that the passengers might be mixed but if the problem existed specifically at passport control then it's odd that the two channels would still be mixed together.

It's funny, I was thinking about the whole publicity thing too, because her Twitter page has her booking details right under her name, something which looks like she needs the work!
Also, isn't insulting the colour of someone's face a bit daft, considering she's complaining about something similar? Whether it's pink or black or whatever.
