hello all,

I'm trying to convince myself to buy this, 13games for £35 tho the only ones I would play are Force Unleashed 1/2, Empire at war and Knights of the old republic,

But why of why isnt Old Republic 2 on there???

Help me buy this collection please...

None of them are that great, in my opinion. Plus, they are pretty old in general, although some people like the whole retro thang.

Out of the list, I'd say KOTOR and Republic Commando are worth getting, the rest, not so much.

KOTOR is a classic, a view which I'm sure many people share.

Republic Commando is an average shooter, but the story and the dialogue amongst the squad make it a worthwhile buy :p

Personally I wouldn't mind playing Dark Forces 1&2 again, but looking at the screenshots, time hasn't been too kind to them.

Tempted here, too. I remember back at the time that Empire at War wouldn't run on my graphics card so I expect even this laptop should cope with it adequately now. Republic Commando is good as is Jedi Outcast. Rest is a bit meh.

The space strategy part of empire at war was decent enough, but the rest...especially the ground combat was beyond awful.

If you want a better "space total war" game then get sins of a solar empire.

Thanks for the input all, I must admit I loved Dark forces years ago and the screens do look rubbish at best now lol, But still £35 for all them cannot be all that bad I mean KOTOR and Force Unleashed 1/2 within that price is good I think ??? it's kinda like but Force unleashed 1/2 at full price and get all the others for free lol

Are the Force Unleashed games enjoyable for fans of Star Wars in general?

If not I might just get KOTOR, always wanted to play that.

Looks like a bit of a rip off, mostly old games 5+ years old bundled for £35, for that sort of money you normally get more games in the Steam sales.

Yes there are some decent games in there but e.g. KOTOR normally goes for like £1.73 in the sales.

Just checked and it is only 50% off, they are taking the mick boys should be at least 66% off. Don't get suckered into this one unless you haven't got any of those already.

I don't think the deal is that bad HangTime, the individual total is £79.12 which includes 4 items with 50% off for a total of £79.12.

RE KOTOR. When you factor in the £35-off limited offer and crudely divide this between all 13 games that works out at another £2.70-off each game, and this is the same figure each game is selling for.

I'm pretty tempted but already have KotR which was just £1.75 back on 29th November 2010 (now £3.49 but was £6.99). Tempting but not irresistible.

I enjoyed the first in small portions but it gets repetitive fast, the second one is poor and just repeats the same enemies over and over again. It's also very short, I played for maybe an hour or so and thought I was midway through the second level, when I checked the level select I was actually half way through the game, one of the levels is literally you walking off your ship, jumping up to a platform and walking into a cave, maybe about 30 seconds worth of play.

KOTOR is well worth a go, as well as the second one.

I laughed out loud the when I'd been knocked out for about the 5th time in a level, and one of the squad comes out with "Aw, there he goes again!"

Republic Commando multiplayer was literally kept alive by the servers provided by the clan I'm in for that game (still is alive, another clan has propped some servers up now too). The single player is okay, a little short though for my tastes.

I'd recommend giving online a go too, not many play online now (small public and match community), would be nice to see some more, that's if you can get over the 12 year old kids who think they're pro raging at people

That doesn't mean to say it is a great deal though, I mean they could put a pricetag of £500 on Dark Forces and then say wow look you get the whole lot for £35! Realistically of those games you'd have to question whether the below represented good value at their quoted prices:

Force Unleashed £13.49
Jedi Outcast £7
Jedi Academy £7
Dark Forces £3.49 (trust me this has NOT aged well!)

Simple fact is when you look at that pack and compare to normal Steam sales, where you got things like Eidos pack, THQ pack etc for the same money or less it doesn't look that great. My recommendation would be to just cherry pick the titles you want when they have proper reductions on, the 'main' games i.e. KOTOR, Force Unleashed, EAW, BF2 etc have all been available for about half their quoted prices there, add them all together and you are still well short of £20, the other stuff doesn't really make up the difference.

Don't get me wrong £35 for 13 games of which there are probably at least half a dozen decent ones isn't THAT bad a deal however when viewed in context of how much you normally have to pay on Steam for such old games it just feels a bit overpriced. KOTOR is 'worth' £35 on it's own in terms of how good it is, but when it has been sold for £1.74 in the past, you have to question the value there :)
