I don't understand why people would want a screen to the edge. It was be near impossible for me to hold without hitting part of the screen and I would lose some of it anyway in a case/sleeve protecting it.

Yup absolutely. It's hard enough on IOS5 when the alerts appear at the top of the screen to tap items nearby. You need some clear definition between the active screen and being able to hold the phone without interfering with the operation of the phone.

Same here no thickness at the sides will be terrible when using protective cases, especially ones that are thicker for better protection.

Can't wait for this. iPhone 4 will be going to the missus, might get my 3GS back and sell it to put towards this.

Either way, barring an absolute disaster on Apple's part (with specs etc.) it'll be a 16GB model as soon as I can get one.

Can't help but feel people are going to be let down by the next iPhone release. As has been proven the next software release runs fine on iPhone 4 so why would apple release a phone with far and away better specs and design ?

I hope I'm wrong but I just feel its going to be a iPhone 4s

i wonder if the 5 will be going to a specific network like the original iPhone did some years ago. Or do you think ALL networks will get it all at the same time?

I took a £40 deposit for my iPhone 4 today. It was a colleague at work who really wanted to buy it so in the end I said yeah, for a total of £390 cash. He will give me the other £350 next week and I will give him the phone on Friday, its the black 32GB version.

So now I have to use a crap phone for a few weeks until I decide what to get next, but please Apple hurry up and release the spec dammit.

It isn't. Apple will very much want to hold their footing in the phone market and to do that they need to raise their game.

To be honest I really don't think they do. I won't go into details otherwise it will just go down the usual drivel

All I will say is I owned the SGS for 12 months and mrs has the SGS2 both are/were good but IMO they both lack that polished touch. Maybe its marketing by apple or maybe apples IOS is more polished either way I don't think apple have to raise their game a great deal at all

I agree with you, I do. However, there will be something considerably more than a small spec bump - there has to be.

I agree with Robbo, apple are behind in the 12 month cycle and currently their hardware needs a good refresh as the the GS3 will be out soon from all reports.

This is just it why does it need a hardware refresh? The soon to be released ISO5 runs better than then previous iSO4 IMO. Apple really don't have to do much at all.

Don't get me wrong me wrong I hope they pull something completely unique out of the hat but I just can't see it . Would be happy to be proved wrong though

I kinda agree with this! Most iphone users couldn't tell you any of the specs except maybe how many megapixels the camera is.

iphones don't sell on specs they sell on design and brilliant marketing.

However if Apple were not going to upgrade it much then why the delay?

Sold mine this week for £420
I also need apple to get this released as in using my wifes crappy 3g

There is big market share of people that care about specs. While the iPhone does dominate the high end smartphone market, there are people jumping ship to Android for two reasons -

1. The delayed iPhone launch

2. They want to try Android

For the latter half of people, they won't move back unless the hardware specs are as good, if not better than the likes of the Galaxy S II.

The iPhone 5 will not be a small update, I can absolutely guarantee it. Wait and see if you don't believe me!
