Hi I would like some advice I'm trying to decide on a motherboard but out of these 2 i cant find any major comparable differences that i will benefit from. I want to run crossfire but they both either support 1 @ 16x or 2@ 8x its purely for gaming with an i5 2500k.

I might go for the cheaper option if thats the case or switch to an asrock board.

Has anybody got any pics of these boards running crossfire/sli?

Got the 65 here runs fine but needs a bios update as the bus speed in cpuz is 99.8 instead of 100 but that`s nothing major im on the latest beta bios for now.

Dont worry about running 8x8 on cf i had 2 470s running that and there is next to no difference.
 
I have the msi gd80 g3 it be a nice mobo now with the bios updated :)

I wish it was that simple mate ive tryed that,even been on the msi forum and got a mouthfull from one of the mods on there,not the best support ive had.
 
My first ever MSI board, very happy with mine anyway. I am just using one graphics card with an XFI card installed, their is enough room to install Crossfire or go SLI.

I bought the MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 the day it became available on the OcUK website, even with the initial bios I hit 4.5GHz without any stability problems.

I have tried each beta bios that has become available, and they have fixed any issues that I have mentioned to them on the forums, they just need to fix Spread Spectrum in the bios.

I saw that too. Not impressed to be honest, but I get the impression that the mods there are volunteers and that MSI don't get involved too much.

Still a great motherboard though. I have the same issue with the clock rates, keeping an eye open for a fix - and yes, I have spread spectrum disabled too :)

Correct, there is one MSI employee called Junior but he has only just started posting there, it is unkown if he is there in an offcial capacity.

Off hand i can't remember (will look later sorry) don't use live update to upgrade the bios do it the old fashion way, i had all sorts of issues with live update. My original bios was broken.

After using liveupdate i had to scrap everything and do a fresh install, i just d/l every msi had for the latest greatest and did it manually, then no problems.

is it really?

33MHz, 66Mhz, 133Mhz, 266Mhz, 533MHz, 667Mhz, 1066Mhz, 1333MHz...

clocks aren't metric by nature so why would you expect exactly 100Mhz rather than 99Mhz? People tend to round up, computers do not, the base clock is still 33.3Mhz.

The reported bus speed "issue" is really a non issue, pretty much every modern motherboard that I've had in recent years reports this. If you GOOGLE this, you will see there are posts on this "issue" pretty much across all board manufacturers. I'd just ignore it and enjoy your new PC :):):)
