Mum / Mother = UK.
Mom = America / Canada.

If you're referring to the pronunciation, it's a pointless thread! Down south is obviously more likely to sound like mum whereas up north mom or mam.

I use Mum because I'm in Britain. If I happened to be living in the US then I would use Mom.
 
This can get very heated. Mum or Mom? I say Mom as MOther sounds better but then i get slatted as MUM it better.

I assume you are an American, in which case I expect nothing else. You've changed and misspelt many words in our language, so yeh, say Mom, whatever.

If you're English however... well. Then words fail
