Hey guys, I want to clean my PC and was wondering if Compressed air dusters are suitable will it be safe. and won't damage any of my components inside?

cheers

should be fine just remember to store it properly and give it an initial burst away from components incase it gives out any water.

Just cleaned mine today with one. They do the job.

I opened PC for 1st tiem since I built it 2 years ago and being a constant gamer and near chain smoker their was an insane amount of brown thick dust. Picked most of it off then used the can to give it a good spray looks nearly as good as new.

PS don't worry if liquid comes out it vaporises straight away I got loads of this on the exposed CPU after I took off the fan, did no harm what so ever.

So long as the PC is off you can pretty much use a garden hose on it.. so long as its dry before you start it up again :)

Compressed air is good but not perfect in my experience anyway. I use a soft paintbrush to clean my components down, It's also a lot cheaper than compressed air. Also a fairly stiff paintbrush is perfect for keyboards.

Brushes and hoover are best tbh - compressed air just blows the stuff around
Do not do with the PC plugged in though - unplug it from the mains

They're good but just be careful you don't give it a powerful blast directly on a fan without holding it in place. I once sprayed a fan hard and the fan spun really fast so it damaged it someway so everyday after that the fan rumbled quite a bit.

I'm with TMS, a good combination of air cleaner and paintburshes really does the trick when getting rid of all that built up dirt, especially if it's as bad as you say :O

Just throwing it out there, but I use a product called "Cyber Clean" I think you buy it from Menkind or some other kinda gadget shop. Anyway it works a treat no faffing around just press on and lift off easy and takes seconds..

this ^

i normally hoover, but last time tried air and it ended up frying the motherboard

luckily it was a very old pc that i had lying around (which was probablly why it happened as it had so much dust in it)

but hoovering would have sucked up the dust, and not blown it everywhere, including the rest of the room

if there is a tiny amount, air is fine

for a lot of caked in dust, i wont be using air again

Ok guys thxs for all the suggestions, I think I will try with a bit of air and a paintbrush and see how it goes.
