"GTX 560M" How good is this GFX card?

Hello,

My laptop Sony has given up on me now (screen went), so im after a new one.. Been looking at the Qosimo 770 with a GTX 560 GFX card (£1499). How will this 560M ***REALLY** Cope with modern games?, you hear the advert blurb and everything, but woud be intersted to see how it runs the games i play: (@ 19201080 res, Qosimo native res)

F1 2010 (main game)
Crysis warehead (possibly Crysis 2 also)
*BBC2
*MW2
*COD 4/5
*Fear2
*Dirt2/3
*Grid/NFS 2

Thats about it really.

Was wondering though, how does the 560M compare to the GTX8800M SLI's that were in high end systems (Alienware etc) a few years back?

560m is faster than sli 285's according to notebook review.

Ive got one coming in my alienware, i can let you know when it arrives.

yes, spent some silly hours in mornings watching these :eek:

. I'm assuming you'll be having a CPU with "Turbo"? (some laptops do 2GHZ-2.9 i believe -and reports of frame increases too).

It'll be fine for this gen. Next gen it may struggle a little with high AA. Still miles ahead compared to most laptop GFX.

Yeah, I got a 2720 (alienware, 8gb ram, 256ssd, - 1920x1080 screen £1050)

turbo goes up to 3.3ghz on that.

Theres new cpu's out, the 2660, 2760 and 2960 but I got mine from dell outlet, think the boost on the new ones are 3.3, 3.6 and 3.6.

Try take a look at the dell outlet for some mx17R3, you can get the same spec as the Toshiba plus a better graphics card (580m, 6990m), a nice ssd thats 250gb and it still should be around £300 less or abit more so well worth a try.

Thanks, i'll have a look at that (went there about an hour ago) can't seem to spec a 560m though for a <grand> or so. will go back.

560M = a downclocked GTX550ti, though you can usually overclock it to full 550ti speeds.

Theres one there still with a gtx580m for just over a grand.

Its £840 plus VAT.

Its been there for two days, the rest of the machine isnt the best, but its still a bargain, I went for one with 560m, 256gb ssd, 8gb ram, 1920x1080 screen for £1050 inc VAT.

Hmmmm choices choices! I, myself, want more than just a "Gaming" machine, as i need a very large HHD (1TB) For music software, and one that doesn’t scare the children (Alienware is a guarantee!) when they come. Also, some of these systems weigh in at 12 pounds, and so wouldn't be too comfortable on your lap for too long.

I'll have another look, as that spec mark, with the 6990M looks good indeed. I'm on a £1499 budget, and if i can beat the Toshiba qosimo like-for-like, I’m tempted. (Toshiba has over terabyte of HDD, Blu-ray RE (re-writer), **3D** (glasses included with most models), and it’s not bad at 3.4 Kilo. Still looking though....

not sure what your budget is mark, but with a laptop like this, its best to get the best of what you " Can't" upgrade, as what you "Can" upgrade could come later (HDD/Optical/RAM) ......

Yeah I went for it, can get a 1tb hard drive for £65, and another 4gb ram for buttons.
