Here's to another one being released without charge, hopefully...

Brian8bit -- read thread title please :) He is suggesting 'Let him go .. who cares what went down'. Do you agree with him, or me? :)

I haven't suggested that at all...

You mean "here's to another one being released without charge" which implies that hopefully the home owner is found not to have used an excess of force as opposed to your implication that people don't care what happened to the burglar, whether excessive force was used or not.

You're pulling so much crap out of your ass you're at risk of drowning in bull****.

Indeed.

Aaah -- antics with semantics ... the cornerstone of an internet argument ..

Later he said:
'Assuming the guy was an intruder (obviously it isn't confirmed yet) - good riddance' and now his thread title actually meant 'I really hope the home owner only used reasonable force on him and is therefore released without charge after a thorough and demanding police investigation to ensure it' eh? roflcopter?

This thread brings memories of 2 stories I heard.

One where an older couple who was about to get married. Old man heard something downstairs at night went to check it out at brought a gun with him. As he saw somebody was there in the dark he shot the "him". Turned out it was his wife-to-be. So the whole aim-to-kill the intruder...it's not entirely ..."good".

Another story is where a family was robbed at gun point, children and wife. After robbers left 2 men form the family chased the robbers down the street with baseball bats, caught up with one of them and started beating the **** out of him. The robber ended up with brain damage.

Those 2 men were prosecuted for excess of force. (the men who were robbed with their family at gunpoint)

Tricky touchy subject.

Are you really as stupid as you come across on these forums, or is it all a clever ruse?

Precisely.

The thread started 'let the guy go without charge' .. not 'let's wait until we know what exactly the home owner did'. I disagree with the premise of 'let's just let him go whatever went down' ... so I post. Simple as that ..

I think Robbo was referring to the recent cases where the accused was released without charge after the Police investigation deemed reasonable force was used.

No-one has said that the incident should not be investigated or that if it is proven that excessive force was used that the accused should be released anyway.

I do not think that the Public should be allowed to leave tributes to the deceased at the residence he was committing a crime in however, that is unfair to the innocent people who live in the property and who have already been terrorised by the deceased and had their husband/father arrested for defending them (whether justified or not)

This chap was a criminal, he died committing a criminal act and while that may be tragic to the family and friends of the deceased, it is not reasonable to allow them to turn the home of the victims of his criminality into a shrine for him.

I agree 100%.

Yet some on here are saying 'Who cares whether there was an excess of force or not, let the guy go' :/

Stabbing a burglar is fair game IMO - so long as it is a genuine lashing out at the intruder type situation... i.e. you find someone in your home, you instinctively react to protect yourself, your home, your family - you grab the nearest implement to hand and you lash out at the guy - if he dies so be it - tis your home and you're defending it...

However there needs to be some balance here - you obviously can't just catch the guy and go to town if he's posing no threat - i.e. stabbing a burglar whilst he's trying to run away isn't on and stabbing a burglar repeatedly after you've incapacitate him in some way is also not acceptable...

I'd hope the home owner in this story was purely acting in self defence and tbh.. I'd assume it was likely he was given that there were two burglars involved...

Regardless of reasonable force, one less burglar (when confirmed, as I said) isn't a bad thing. I didn't mention reasonable force - you did, and when you asked me about it, I clarified what I meant.

You simply ignore all that and continue to post the usual bile that you always do.

Who?

The story that I'm aware of is that a thief got stabbed by a man protecting not just his home but his wife and child also.

Perhaps you have some relation to the man that was stabbed? I wouldn't be suprised given you're pedantic reasoning in this thread :o

Agreed there are pot holes in any situation and there are always going to be extremes of one or the other but im a believer in wanting to legally protect my family, my belongings and my self. If i really hurt or killed someone who was trying to take any of the above from me i dont believe i should be punished it it could be shown i did what i had to. 36 stab wounds followed by burning them is a little excessive but if i happened to get a good accurate stab then so be it. Granted, its not the first thing id try but you get my point, you should have some leg to stand on in court!

Brian your arguments are weakened by the constant school-yard insults. Just a suggestion but TBH either try harder at your insults or give up.

Imagine you're in a pub and debating with a guy, and he suddenly says 'well you're just stupid' and charges off to the bar. Who has won the debate? It's like if I called you a 'silly-head'. School yard stuff. What would you think? Trust me .. the 'You're just daft/stupid/a moron/a dunderhead' lines hold no water at all in debating circles they're just far too generic .. how often do you see politicians do it? Never! there's a reason why!!

Sorry .. just a suggestion .. I guess you're pretty young .. you'll learn all this as you get on a bit *

* This was an example .. much better than 'you're just a silly-head'! Capiche? :)

Oh pipe down with your pseudo intellectual rhetoric. It doesn't matter how many times these types of threads pop up, you usually arrive to stick your oar in and do absolutely NOTHING but post inane ridiculous hypothetical situations that get shot down by every one in said threads.

I'm completely serious when I asked are you as stupid as you appear. I'm not name calling. It's a statement made from accumulating data on observable behaviour.

The conclusion of my study is that you're retarded. Or at least a bit slow.

I don't know my own intelligence. I've got a computer science degree and held down a 6-figure job for >15 years but I reckon any muppet can get one and do that as long as they can do a proper day's work, and that's the truth.

I did an IQ test online and got 114. But then I did another and got 135, and another and got 168 -- as I worked out what the questions were getting at. So I don't trust those either and reckon that 'MENSA' just bigs up vain people to try and get them to join .. any muppet could get through them as well with a little practice, as I did, and you could, again just practice.... I reckon deep down I'm probably about average.

I passed all the intelligence needed to be an RAF pilot (but failed the leadership stuff).. guess that's something. Can play the piano well, but YET AGAIN any trained monkey could play the piano if they work hard at it, I've never met anyone who I seriously think it would be beyond them. I could teach you to play the hardest piece there is on the piano in 4 months full time I reckon. It's not clever.

I don't know how I'd go abour determining my intelligence ,,, how anyone does really ...?
