So thought I would get the opinion of the OCUK collective on ideas for the first song at my wedding. Get married next year and my and the missus have we think narrowed it down to two songs. One picked by her and one by me.

So would be interested to hear your opinions, your ideas for songs if different and if married what was your first song?

Her choice is probably more suitable than yours for a wedding. I find that songs which are a man directly singing about a woman, or vice versa, don't really seem right for a song that's about two people together. Yes, I know most love songs tend to be written about the subject of the musician's affection, but use of words like "he", "she" or actual names, would tend to make you think the songs directed more at one of the couple than the other, or was chosen by one person for the other. It's the reason why my favourite love song, Something by The Beatles, wouldn't really be apt for my first dance.

These are two that I've always considered, though I'm not sure what my eventual fiancee / wife would think of them, or even if they're of the correct pace to be suitable for the occasion (in the case of the latter):

They should have spent a few more grand getting a guy who could actually mix a track because that is dreadful. What the hell is going on with the cymbals and the lack of kick drum? Youtube compression?

Also, weddings :)

 
Me and the other half are getting married in 12 days, and for the last 4 months we've been learning 'Lindi-Hop/Jive', mainly for fitness and to get us out of the house!!..

But as no one in our family or friends has really cottoned on to this, I've put together a little routine (which we really don't have to stick to, Just as long as Emma follows my lead!!) and we're dancing to "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" (the original not the Overtones one!!)..

I've fettled the song a little (using Audacity) so it starts with 'Careless Whisper' by George Michael (for about 10 seconds), Who everyone in our family knows I hate!!, it then has the needle dragged off and "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" starts!! :D

Should get a few raised eyebrows!!.. Most people think I've got two left feet!!.. :D

The 'Grab Arse and Shuffle' dance will be the last dance of the evening!!

I've been waiting 31 years to find out and shake their hand.
I had over 500 people at the reception and a lot of them were fellow musicians & workmates and I'd love to know who it was.
I've also got a massive family with 28 cousins so it could be anybody.
