Thanks to the GTX580 Matrix Platinum the inside of my case is toasty and the GPU is getting quite hot.
So i'm willing to sat goodbye to the NZXT H2 warranty and somehow mount a 120mm fan in the side panel exhausting the hot air out.
Now i've not done this since 80mm fans were considered big.. So i need to make sure i'm going to be doing this right. So here's my plan:
-- Source and purchase a 20mm thick 120mm fan. The Matrix and CM V6GT stick out a lot, need a slim fan, open to suggestions but would like it to be a quiet fan.
-- Source and purchase an anti-vibration kit for a 120mm fan (washers, gasket, rubber pull-pin fixings etc).
-- Source and purchase a 3 pin fan cable extension.
-- Source and purchase a tidy black grill of some kind, doesn't need a filter.
-- Mark out on the inside of the panel where to put and cut the 120mm hole.
-- Get out Mr Dremel and go at it with some sort of precision at least.
-- Mount the damn thing.
This all sound good?
Those of you that have side panel mounted fans, how do you have the connectors? I was thinking of taping the fan cable towards the back of the panel and fixing the connector on the inside of the case close to where the fan connector will be just so i dont have a massive trailing of cable when i shut the case. Hopefully wont need to keep removing the panel.
