Just wondering if anyone else here has had the same experience/problem.

Basicly when using the computer i get tired very quick,My eyes go dry and i get headeach....and sometimes my eyes can go sort of blury.

Now as far as im aware theres nothing wrog with my eyesight i can see okay,i can read books etc fine.

I have my monitor set to its max res 1920x1080 and 120Hz...also have an app installed called Flux that adjusts the monitors light levels according to the time so its not too bright at night.

So wondering if anyone else has had to have glasses for just using the PC?

Appreciate any feedback.

Without glasses, after a while of staring at the computer screen my eyes start to ache. It doesn't go as far as a headache, but putting my glasses on fixes the problem. Go to an opticians.

Also remember that if you happen to work with computers for X amount of hours a day, your employer by law has to pay for an eye test for you, and about £45 towards a pair of gegs for VDU use if it turns out you do need them.

Did not know that actually :p thats good,But i dont work at a computer i work in a store. :D

Turn the brightness down on your monitor.
Increase the distance from the screen.
Take more breaks.
Get an eye test

Already tried the first 3 did not seem to make any diffrence,I can be at the pc for about 20 mins and it starts. :(

OP does not state location, but in Scotland eye tests are free once every 2 years.

Im in the Midlands,So no free eye test unless i see one again in the paper,I think the lowest price ive seen is £10 if you print off the voucher on the net so might do that.

Ive not had an eye test since i was about 8 ish?...im now 22 nearly 23 so its been a while.

Thaks for your replies all. ;)

Well just an update guys,Been to the Opticians (Specsavers) and had an eye test, and he said i had perfect vision no need for glasses at all my eyes re in great condition.

So now im even more confused to what might might be causing my issues,I have cut down how much on on the PC but still even after only 30 mins on the PC my eyes start to go dry and i feel tired.

Im wondering if my monitor could be the problem...but its modern,120Hz set at the right hight and everything.....very strange.

This thread really does warrant a 'shoulda gone to specsavers'.

If its been 14 years then yeah the chances of your eyes changing, especially since you were 8, is pretty big.

Now that I think about it, I've not had eye/headache since I got my new glasses either, even though my old ones were only a year old. Could just be a coincidence there though.

Should have gone to Specsavers. He's been and his eyes are fine.

Remember to blink. sounds silly but when you are doing a lot of computer work you will be staring intently at the screen for long periods of time. also get some eye drops and see if they help.

my first suggestion would be to try using f.lux. it turns the warmth of the colours down at night to make things far easier on the eyes when theres not much light coming from outside. i'm sure theres a setting to have it turned down permanently somewhere.

if that doesnt work then try leaving a bowl of water out in the room somewhere (preferably where your not likely to knock it over and where the result of knocking it over wouldnt do much harm). if dry air is the problem then it could help a bit

"I don't need an eyetest/glasses I can see fine!" is such a logical fallacy. Of course you think you can see fine because you're not aware of what better sight is if your eyesight isn't as good as it could be.

I used to think I could see fine before I started finding it difficult to read things at a distance, if I'd never noticed that I'd probably never got an eye test, but reading aside (oh and the cinema) my eyesight is "fine" and I don't "need" glasses, but it makes the cinema, for example more enjoyable because the image is much sharper.

He actually said to me i should try some eye drops and i said i had already tried Optrex but it lasts for about 10 mins then they go dry again...so he wrote down the name of some other stuff i should try.....but i cant see that making much of a diffrence either,Ive noticed though its not only at the computer my eyes go dry and tired its also watching the TV!

Arghh!

I get the same thing but It happens even when I'm not on my computer. I have to yawn until my eyes water, but they go dry straight away.

I should go and see my GP but I'm dreading it incase its something serious.
