You have to think that the beta is coming on console at the same time as PC.

My thoughts are that Caspian Border or any larger vehicle based maps are not quite ready for the console yet, so therefore they are limiting the beta to Operation Metro.

Obviously if they were to release Caspian Border on PC but not console (even tho I imagine it is all working fine on PC) there would be an outcry from the console crowd, who, like it or not, are going to be a big big customer for Dice.

I wouldn't bother to be honest. Not unless you're running at a res higher than 1080p.

Couldn't they have seen the changes themselves though? And given us a fresh new map and game mode?

This was my thinking, as well as the delays from Sony and Microsoft, and the fact DICE probably can't be bothered two change the game modes for two different platforms, gone for the easy mode.

really mate,1920x1200,would the extra vram on that card not help that much.i know the 5870 is still a top card,i can tplay bf3 any lower than high on my res i will refuse lol.
Also will we get to play with a settings not just high med low like in the aplha :confused:

So a 6950 is recommended for medium? Guess I'll play the beta to see what it's like with one and will think about upgrading to a second one. Was really hoping for conquest mode too.

As one poster in the EA forums put it:

Just one thing: How are we supposed to give feedback about major stuff like vehicles/AT, conquest, hardcore, jets/AA, performance on 64 players and big maps etc?

Yup. How are we supposed to, when these major elements are missing lol.

I expect lots of patches over the coming months

I honstly dunno wtf theyre upto, it seems totally stupid that they want to keep vehicles tightly guarded till launch knowing that theyre the one part of the game thats gonna get a ton of scrutiny, expecially Heli's and jets. They have the opportunity to get this ironed out for launch and theyre not taking it, totally stupid imo.

I don't think that they "cant be bothered" but say they did release Caspian Border on PC, but not on console.. there would be an out cry from the console crowd, and if it got out that it wasn't quite ready for console yet there would be an out cry.

Even worse that the cry babies are coming out with for the beta being limited to Metro, and especially even worse for Dice's profits, which sadly people, is the name of the game.

Dude, just because testing isn't done in public, it doesn't mean it isn't done at all.....

There is more feedback gained from public testing than can ever be gained from inhouse testing. The sheer amount of PC configs alone would make public testing worthwhile.

Why is every one doing GPU specs for BF3, just wait and see what you can run at, l'll bet aload of peeps will be upgrading thier GPU because of the GPU specs for the Beta. Quite happy with my present set up 920 at 4.2GHz > GPU - 470 at 850:1700:2000MHz, the only thing l will do is drop res to 1680x1050 for BF3.

How many people who have both formats will be buying the 'superior' pc version though.

DICE have even commented on how crap the current consoles are ...
