Where have all the rechargeable packs gone?

I've been looking for a few weeks now for the official xbox rechargable battery packs. They used to be just about everywhere for £5.

I can't find them anywhere decent now and some well known online retailer want £15-19 for one!

I've seen I can buy a plug and play kit for £9.99 but that seems a bit of a waste as I have three already. I'm not interested in unofficial ones because people always moan they come loose etc, unless anyone has bought a decent one?

Not interested in using rechargeable AA's either because If my batteries are running low when gaming I just like to slap the charge lead on rather than disconnect the controller.

I can't be bothered with the play & charge kits

I manage the running out of battery problem by having a spare set. Whenver they run out i just swap 'em over and put he pair that have run out on charge.

Not what you wanted to hear, but i just don't see the point when i get a good pack of 4 x 2900mah AAs for just over £4.

This TBH a decent charger and 4AA's , plus the added bonus they last a lot longer than those rechargeable packs

Hybrio batteries are perfect for things like games controllers (and remotes in general)
One charge lasts me AGES and it's dead easy to swap flat ones for charged ones. No wires :)

Yeah but I'm crap for remembering to charge a spare set which Is why i prefer to just smack and play and charge kit on. It's annoying to get the controller disconnected mid game online and scramble about for a charged set of batteries :D

I change them as soon as they start to go flat (you get loads of warning with proper batteries) and charge them pretty much straight away so they are ready waiting. :D

the MS packs never last many charges.... cheap, horrible crap

I've had about 3 of them since launch and only after 2 years have they started to fail on me regards holding a charge or lasting a few days.

Never had an issue with them tbh.

I guess I will have to try to find a decent 3rd party one off ebay.

I bought 6 GP recyko batteries and a quick charger. That way i've always got at least one pair that's charged while i'm playing. They last loads longer than the xbox battery packs as well.

I used to use the rechargable packs all the time as I had a little charging dock but I haven't even bothered buying one for my new xbox as Tesco Alkaline batteries last almost forever.

Interesting that I bought an LED torch from tesco and put tesco alkaline batteries in it.

I use the torch nearly every day and the batteries just never seemed to die.

I'm using one that came with the batteries... It's smart enough to stop when they're done charging. Beyond that, I couldn't tell you.
