My new build with pics

Might want to upgrade cooler for overclocking, but i think you should just run your system as it is for a few weeks and if your satisfied with performance there is no need to tweak anything, and that way you can test it out for a while, if anything does go wrong (hopefully it won't) its not going to be because of you fiddling around with overclocking.

Nice build! Enjoyy

Interesting post for someone like me who was too afraid to build it himself. I went for a pre-built system but now kind of regret it as it would have been fun to build it. Then again for all I know I would have killed the motherboard before even using it... Next build I will definitely do myself.

I wanted to do this when my parts came but I couldn't wait to get stuck in!

I am not sure about the 2600k but I have the 2500k and clocking it to 4ghz was a lot easier than I remember, there are lots of guides out there for my chip so I presume it will be almost identical for yours.

But as others have said, before you considering OC'ing I would get a better CPU cooler.

Cheers all - going to leave it stock for the time being. Its plenty quick enough for what I need it to do at the moment.

Love the table shot - i took as many as i could as I know i would love to see these type of pics. Gald you do too.

Cheers

I wish my first build was any where near as tidy as that, I have got better though.

In the future I would consider buying another 460 gtx and running them in sli since that would make a big difference, but see how BF3 runs first.

Nice build, thanks for all the pictures.

If you can do it.... I hope I can!

I've just ordered all the components for my first ever build. I'm a bit scared cos on friday I will have 11 hundred quids worth of kit which I have to somehow turn into a working PC. However, your post is both informative and encouraging, cheers.

Nice setup for a first timer! Well specced and balanced system, although you'll be leaving stock, these sandy bridge CPUs do overclock very easily, but will require an aftermarket cooler- I'm using a Corsair H70 (closed loop watercooling), and running my 2600k @ 4.6GHz, but you can always use air cooling- I heard the Silver Arrow is very good.

Nice system chap. You have the Same Motherboard, cpu and BD-ROM as I do! So far so good.

Are you gona do some more cable management? My case atm sucks for it :(

Hi all,

I have recently cable managed the system. Basically started again, removed one of the hard drive bays for more room and to help cooling. Turned the PSU upside down also which helped give more slack on the cables so I could re-route.

Putting the back on was a bit of squeeze as some of the cable are a bit thick!

Ill post some pics - upgrades to come is to replace the the 2 small fans with some LED ones and a Corsair H80 at some point

No problems. I was daunted at first but it was really quite simple. I guess I was lucky it worked first time.

There is a really simple guide on this forum which I used, which gave the order to put all the kit together. The order is as my picture thread.

Any questions please ask as I'm now an expert ;-)
