looking to buy a skoda fabia vrs

Budget for new front tyres at least every 3 months as the sheer amounts of torque will just tear the tread off them.

I'm only looking at the 130bph, 1.9 tdi pd.

and yeah I should be able to, had a golf 1.9 tdi 115 couple years back, but have been on a 1.8 107 avensis auto since. Can't wait to get back to manual

Ignore all of the above.

Decent enough little cars as standard. A chip brings them alive nicely. However the premium you pay for one of these is often exagerrated for some unknown reason.

I assumed they were all joking as is, some motors meme, where they think they are being clever than actually answering the question. Thanks for the briskoda link, very useful.

chip, you say hilly?

However the premium you pay for one of these is often exagerrated for some unknown reason.

Because of the people who actually seem to believe the Fabia vRS is some sort of hypercar in hatchback form as all the joking above was getting at.

It's the DTurbo of the 2000s

Also it's everything the Motors forum hates rolled into one car.

Small hatchback - check
Small agricultural diesel engine - check
Crap badge - check
Unexplainable popularity - check

;)

I'm sorry not all of us can afford maybachs.

Its not that

Its just some owners seem to think they are some sort of super car.

Its a nice "warm" hatch. But some seem to think they can go racing m3s in them. Its not about how much money you have to spend.

also as said above they are very expensive for what they are, i would still rather own of these then a fiesta zetec-s 1.6 tdci which most lads in our age group buy (im 23)

the answer to your op is make sure its got full service history (i would want main dealer only) and the milage is genuine, fsh is essential on these engines

Right, serious cap on as I test drove one, researched into it when looking at cars and drive a (non-vRS) Fabia from time to time.

Engine wise, it pulls well. Bear in mind that it's never going to set any speed records though, and going around corners you have a heavy lump right over the front wheels. It's also very dagdagy sounding, but this won't bother some people.

If the mileage is around 60K or higher check for a cambelt change, or factor it into the price. Also bear in mind that higher mileage ones will have the usual potential injector bills, but on the whole the engine is quite sound.

Er, interior is a sea of nasty plastic but just like the sound, that won't bother some (personally I found it well put together so i'm not fussed) and you get a choice between some black/white cloth seats that seem to be a **** to clean or leather ones.

Try not to get ripped off as it's easy to be with these cars, and you should be fine.

[Edit] Cambelt is 4Y or 60K, so anything you look at should have had at least one change, and potentially getting close to a second.
