Still wouldn't come close in my humble opinion, you are forgetting just how much cars have evolved in the last few years. I will try and find some lap times for the Lotus 300 and 350 to provide proof.

As I say this isn't an exact science but it does show the differences that modern cars have. Power is the key issue and where as the Lotus Esprit was a benchmark car in it's day in terms of handling, today it's dated.
