Is Uncharted 1 really a bit pants?

Infamous is indeed great, it's got everything that a good sandbox super hero game should have. I'm yet to try the sequel which the old me would have considered criminal, however the new 'saving for a mortgage' me will have to wait till it's cheaper.

Sad times.

Imo its more to get to know the characters. For example in Uncharted 2 when Sully arrives it was a fantastic moment for those who knew the character, for people new to the series they wouldn't have much of a clue what their relationship was or why he was significant.

I guess it would have been nice to see a character return from the first game, but even though I didn't know who he was I could tell he was a returning character by the way the other characters interacted with him, and how the game treated him. :)

Glad to hear the second is better, I'll struggle my way through the rest of this then!

What would people recommend next out of the exclusives? Quite keen on Infamous.

Had to lol at your OP, you're bang on with what you say. I only gave the first a real go through once I'd played the far superior sequel and it was very much a struggle. Definitely play the second one though it'll blow you away (albeit it's a bit on the short side I thought)

For what it's worth I hated Infamous and the demo that I played of Infamous 2 as well. As far as exclusives go I wouldn't go near the Resistance series either, while the 3rd is the best it's still not that good. Killzone 3 I think is epic but you may find Killzone 2 a bit of a struggle similar to Uncharted.

I'd also recommend checking out MGS4 (obviously) and Heavy Rain. Oh and if you haven't played it on your 360 Deus Ex :)

I've played Resistance 1+2 co-op through with my mate, if it hadn't been co-op I wouldn't have bothered. Pretty bland games.

Killzone 3 I've also done co-op, that was quite fun.

Deus Ex I have on PC :)

Heavy Rain is definitely on my list!

I re-played Uncharted just before Uncharted 2 was released, was still a superb game. The cover system is a little better in the first game too.

Wondering whether I should re-play both of them again in time for Uncharted 3, or just jump straight into it. Don't feel like I have the time to re-play games any more. :(

I agree with the op about the ski section, I played it just before the second was released and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would have, its still really good but the shooting is loose and some of the pacing is off.

Pretty much agree with OP. I'm sorry to say but the first two thirds of the game are by far and away the best of it too as it goes downhill fast once a certain new enemy is introduced.

The second is better overall but has an awful end boss but I'd still rank it as a must play game and 8 or 9/10.

Other exclusives...

I loved Heavy Rain despite it having probably the least coherent story of any game this generation. While you're playing it you're sucked in emotionally but like many films these days if you stop to think about it afterwards you'll be 'wtf'.

The Infamous demo did nothing for me, the Resistance demo was awful, I bought Killzone 2 but got bored after a couple of hours. LBP did nothing for me either but I've still got it and the bairn likes it.

My wife really liked Flower so you could this a go.

Motorstorm is very good, try this!

Funny you should mention the bosses, personally I much prefer the boss at the end of the first game to the one at the end of the second which like you said it pretty awful. The whole final chapter was a little crap tbh.

I didn't like Uncharted. I just felt like I had played it before, and I agree about the combat being pants. I would rather play Tomb Raider Legend than this.
