I wanna buy a 1080p 24 inch monitor but dont know when?

You can't force a game to play at 1080p(1920x1080) on a monitor that only supports 1680x1050. It is impossible by technical specifications. The Ati drivers are probably readjusting the game to 1680x1050 without you noticing. So realistically you think you are playing in 1080p when in fact you are just playing in 1680x1050.

no what I mean was....

in the old drivers I could have desktop of both monitors at 1080p

However on the 22 inch monitor Id only get 80% off the picture. I would need to scroll along to see other parts off the screen. But with the new drivers when I display 1080p mode my 22 inch goes blank now.

I dont know techinally the resolution it was at on the 22 but even with games loaded at 1080p they would still work on the 22 but only 80% off picture shown and to see rest of screen would need to scroll along. Obviously wasusing the 40 incher so wasnt bothered.

ok but i read that most people cant see more than 60hz..and even so gojng above 60 or maybe 90 it wont make that much off a ''real'' difference? Also add in the fact that unless i upgrade my pc im lucky to play any latet games more than 40-60fps

as for 5ms vs 2ms repsonse time this matters?

anything above 60fps the eye will struggle to see the difference, same as the 5ms vs 2ms ghosting. Hell I dont see any ghosting. Now people will tell you they do, I bet they dont. I dont look at my screen thinking OMG ghosting, I see nothing of the sort.

Same as people forcing others to upgrade, jesus my q6600 overclocked with a 6950 runs bc2 at 80+ fps on full setting minus vsync, pictures in the bc2 thread. Why would I spend £300 to upgrade that? People sometimes try to make up reasons why they spent so much and its not always right advice. Just keep that in mind

90% of people on here will give you diamond advice, others try to justify the rigs they own, that older machines can do just as well.

so it seems i cant go wrogn with the iiyamam or benq

but then there is now 3 choice

benq vs iiyama

and LEd vs non LEd

lol choices choices

Benq vs BenqLEd vs Iyamma all 150 quid

120hz might be good for games like fifa and PES as they are so fast moving even somewhat motion blur on my2ms lcd.

however I play fifa/pes on my 40" tv so its irrelevant.

as for fps games 60fps/60hz is fine right? I mean no point paying an extra 100 quid so I get like 90fps...I say 90 becuase Id have to buy a lot of upgrdes to be getting 120hz anyway.

I mean 60fps is good right?

If you cannot tell the difference between 60 and 120 frames your eyes are very bad and you need to go to spec savers :D

I thought solid 60fps was fine for FPS but when i had that doubled... i wont ever go back.

ok but you will need serious hardware to run at high graphics and resolution and at 100-120fps correct?

I want to upgrade anyway but 120hz monitor is double price of 60hz. Ad in factor only game I will use my monitor for is BF3 as I play all other games on my 40 inch hdtv usually.

Just another point, if you're worried about keeping the same resolution as your TV then don't go with a 16:10 monitor go with a 1080p one. I think you already are but just to be sure :)

To be honest id prefer to drop the detail a notch or two so i can achieve those frame rates

mmm well like I say only game i will play is bf3 and Id rather pay 150 than 280 on a monitor.

Also I play bfbc2 with 30-45fps average so 60fps would be great.

i defo need to upgrade cpu also I think maybe a used q6600 will be fine however much that is?

as for my 5770 HD 1gb gfx card I dunno if that will be cool?
