100MB line in yesterday :)

DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I have a school right next to me and we only have a max of 20mb. It's ridiculous!

What routers are you guys using for modem mode? Just curious as my wrt120n can't handle the throughput and becomes a bottleneck. Am thinking about getting a pfsense box or cheap dd-wrt jobby.

I use an Airport Extreme because all the wireless clients in the house are Apple based and it provides a gigabit connection to the gigabit switch upstairs.

Probably going to get a Draytek when the Airport Extreme dies but that may be some time in the future as this has been the longest lasting router I have ever had.

The SuperHub was cack for WiFi. Thank the Goddess for the new R30 "Modem Mode"

No 100Mb in Derby yet though so 50Mb is all I can have. I NEED MORE SPEED. Can I please haz 1.5Gbps Virgin Media?

I was on 50mb virgin... just downgraded to 35mb and got skysports instead.

It hasn't made much difference at all in real terms. Can still max out at 3.6mb and they have just upgraded the upload speed in my area so it's good enough.

How much are people paying to get upgraded to 100mb? We have 50mb as part of our £110/month package and they want an additional £10er a month. Any one got it cheaper?

35? You mean 30Mb :p

The 3Mb upload is nice though, I don't see the point in going from 30 to 50 for an additional £6 a month, might as well wait until 100Mb shaves off £10 a month because at the moment for me I pay for 30Mb at £28.50 a month and I'd easily jump on £35 a month for 100.....they want £45 for it though.

Brand new customers get 6 months half price too which is crap as existing customers can't get such deals.

I used a WNDR3700 router for the superhub modem only mode, still use the same router when they gave me a modem only and binned the superhub.

I'm on <1mb here in zone 2 in London about 5 minutes walk from Canary Wharf. BT Infinity is supposedly installed in the area but nobody I know is able to actually get it.

I generally use my phone for internet browsing as the 3G generally comfortably faster than my land line connection. I only resort to the PC when I need to use something with Flash.

Since 2001 which I think is kind of the time broadband showed up I have lived at 5 separate addresses and the fastest line I've ever had is 2mb - Cable has been unavailable at all of them.

Moving to Sheffield City centre next week and I am going to be on BE there @ approx 19mb so that is going to seem strange for me. Again Cable is not available there!

Same here except i am using it in the same area :)

I assume you live in a flat? Infinity has been set up a lot around the isle of dogs area

in the opposite position here :(

moved house and left a 100meg cable line behind to drop back to a lowly 14meg sky line,

tis heartbreaking :( :(

Been on the 50MB package a few months and had the box in my brothers room. Tried wireless and homeplugs but both options gave lag (very sensitive to gaming lag) and lower downloads speeds. Had the box moved to my room the other day so I'm wired in now, ping and max speeds are so much better :D

My advice to get the most out of your internet connection (especially for gamers): don't bother with wifi or homeplugs, get some cables run.

Still running on steam with 4Mb here. Just checked the BT Infinity page and it looks like there are no plans for it to be enabled around here for this year at least. Closest place having it enabled soon is Chepstow.

I wonder how many people can actually get BT Infinity. The exchange here was one of the first to be enabled but the cabinet hasn't been done and we live near the centre of town. In fact I haven't seen a single new cabinet yet.

Services available at:
You're in a Virgin Media National broadband area

You're not in a fibre optic cable area, so we can't give you TV. But we can give you Virgin Broadband using your existing phone line.

3.2 Mbps - 6.0 Mbps

Best speed promise - the fastest your line can handle

Unlike some others we're not into restricting the speed you get, so we'll work with what's there and give you the fastest possible broadband your phone line can handle.

**** you Virgin. God damn Grade 2 listed buildings :(
