Where is the best place online to get HIDs from, don't want rubbish ones really, what do you guys recommend and why please, not looking to spend a fortune, just upgrade what I have, under £150 please

I doubt you want a lesson on the law, but be aware the MOT regs are changing this year and basically it will be almost impossible for a car fitted with retrofit HIDs to pass an MOT.

I've had a couple of kits off ebay before and have had no issues at all. I'm now driving a car without projector lamps so no longer have the kits.

Shouldn't be too bad to swap back to halogen bulbs for the MOT though? Thats what I'm planning on doing anyway (when I get HIDs).

eBay, £40(ish).

I gave up with them after a while, i had a set in my Mondeo (Halogen headlights) and got fed up of worrying about MOT's, Police etc so i changed them for some decent Halogen bulbs (Philips Blue Vision).

Nothing wrong with them if you have projector headlights... However if he only has reflectors, then I agree.

Considering he'll swap them to halogens for the new MOT, I doubt he's got projectors. Happy to stand corrected though :)

Bah, ninja :(

Correct, depending on how well you tape up the loom afterwards, it's a few minutes work to remove retrofitted HIDs.

Got mine off ebay for £50, had a bulb go a few weeks after getting them, they replaced it straight away. Been absolutely fine ever since. They're 5600k (I think) so they're about as white as you can get. They passed the last MOT no probs, and it only takes 10 minutes to fit halogen bulbs back in should you need to.

As Fox said, quite a few cars have halogen projectors, although I can't name any apart from Fiat Coupe (what I have :p).

Just ordered mine, £23 on ebay - got positive comments on another forum, so look pretty good despite the very cheap price. Not hard to improve on the stock headlights though, they really are appalling!

No?

It might become increasingly difficult to get third party HID kits to pass, but retrofit an OEM set of parts and I see no difficulty at all.

My retrofit will be undetectable from one that had been installed from the factory, complete with projectors, auto-levelling sensors and lamp washers (already on the car with the halogens).

Why do you doubt that? Numerous cars have projectors with halogen lights.
I thought HIDs in reflectors will be an MOT fail. Therefore if he'll swap them for the MOT then there's an implication that he hasn't got projectors

And I know that many cars have halogen projectors. The E39 is one of them ;)

Do you have projector headlights?

Not currently but the HIDs are for a projector headlamp upgrade that come as standard in a different model.

So I don't think they'll be illegal

Do you have a link or seller name please?

Was there a big difference that you noticed?
