Rick Bergman is out at AMD (NYSE:AMD), quite possibly the worst thing that could have happened to the company. With the new CEO in place, there were bound to be changes, but this one is pretty unexpected....

According to Charlie Demerjian, it could be. He is known for being biased towards AMD, but seeing him like this is almost scary :p

Very bad news if what he does predict comes to pass though.

The future without AMD is that of Intel and Nvidia fusing into the uber-ripoff-conglomerate either legally or not so much, dark times indeed. In reality though, AMD can't just go 'poof' no matter what. Corporations like that are hardly akin to family owned cornershops that go under when the owner says ****-it.

On the other hand, maybe this is a good thing. Maybe some fresh blood will give them the push they need to become competitive again (CPU side).

There has been some major **** ups lately. They have failed to deliver and meet the competition. their GPU branch looks healthy enough, but they need to get their CPU production sorted ASAP. Intel won't wait for them.

Wait, they do... Intel been pushing back as well. :(
