Hargreaves comeback confirmed

Pretty bullish considering he's played a grand total of one game against lower league opposition isn't he?

He reckons he is capable of playing 40 games this season, well come back when you've done that son. Just checked the stats and he's only made 172 league appearances in his entire career which is pretty atrocious for a player in his 30s.

Not saying he shouldn't be pleased to get through a game at last but common sense would dicate he'd keep his mouth shut until he's got a few more appearances under his belt without incident.

Really happy for him - yeah I wish he wasnt playing for that load of ******, but that was obviously the best offer he got (after he offered to play for Utd for free), good luck to him

Still think Utd should have given him a pay as you play deal of some kind that could have suited both parties, but either way he has now played more football (in one match) than he has in over 2 seasons

Don't forget the majority of his career (7 years) was in the Bundesliga which only has 34 league games a season per team. Over the 6 seasons he played for Bayern that works out at 204 matches. 145 out of 204 matches isn't a bad first team record at all for a player who has come up the ranks, of course we already know his Man Utd record was poor.

Career with Bayern - respectful and dignified in the media
Career with Man Utd - respectful and dignified in the media
Capped and World Cup appearances for England - respectful and dignified in the media
57 minutes with City.......

Pretty disappointing that after Man United paid his wages for so long despite his injuries and the little return that he gave them that he couldn't just keep his comments to himself...

Lost all respect I had for him, I was perfectly happy to support him even after his move to City but he has shown himself to have absolutely no class.

Agreed.

I still hope he gets his career back and i mean that. I was pleased when he scored TBH and thats a rarity when its a City player!

However theres just no need for him to make these comments. He was facing the end of his career, if he thought his treatment was wrong he didnt think to speak out over the 3 years he was out? He was happy to take the wages and treatment? Even if he did believe it why not wait until the summer after a successful season and reclaiming his spot in the England squad for the Euros before saying this? At least it would have some credibility (ish).

Putting the boot into the club that paid for his rehab after one goal and 57 mins of competitive football is poor in my opinion and surprises me a little. It also flys in the face of the interview he gave when he was freed when he claimed he would play for nothing.

The only thing i would say is its got "welcome to City" stamped all over it.

He doesnt have any history of being anything but diplomatic so i find it odd that, as i said, 57 mins into a City career, he is suddenly back page news with his manager suggesting an England return is on the cards as well.

Much as im no fan of Dalglish he was at pains to play down Gerrards return in England terms after 6 months out. MAncini is bemoaning his lack of midfield options one weekend and pressing his new midfielder into England action straight away!

Ahh Hargreaves, 57 minutes of football without his knees turning to dust or some other random injury and he's the bionic man all of a sudden.

It's not Hargreaves's fault that Utd were stupid enough to give an injury prone player such a long and lucrative contract. If he felt mistreated, surely he has the right to say so?

Sign player of your neighbouring team and rivals on a free, give him a chance, win win. Fergie is the master of mind games, little seeds of doubt in your rivals or referees works wonders at the top level!

Mancini did say that the stuff Hargreaves came out with was probably not true about the physios

OK

He wasnt signed from us. We decided not to offer a new contract despite him offering to play for nothing.

After a summer of inactivity he signed for another club on deadline day.

Where is the mind games there?
