so ive finally started looking at a sound card after making my rig "battlefiled ready" in my previous computers ive never had a sound card so im not sure if i will see any quality increase over on board sound cards... my budget for a sound card is about £50-60, im using philips spa5300 2.1 speakers and will be getting either Corsair HS1A, TT eSports Shock, or maybe Steel Series Siberia v2 so which card do you think i should go for?

If you get the Siberia V2s then buy the USB ones they come with a USB sound card type thing that is pretty good, it enables Virtual surround sound and things like that.
also saves you from having to buy a card.

I have had mine for a year and a half and am really happy with mine, however that is just my experience see what a few more people say.

Just DON'T get USB headphones or the HS1A.

I agree due to the fact you want to use Speakers and Headphones, it would make more sense to get an internal Soundcard most (if not all) of the usb ones put additional load on the CPU.

HS1A - If you buy low cost headphones I wouldn't expect miracles.

I found that my Siberias were a good mix between Musical performance and Gaming, at there price range, there is also the fact that the USB sound card that comes with it is obviously optimised for the headset which allways makes a good impression.

read somewhere that "they are used in proffesional recording studios" sounds like BS to me. but they are pretty good.

at £50 i cant see there being a huge benefit over the onboard sound you already got tbh... no offence but you speakers arn't great anyway :(
