SLI MSI Gtx580, what PSU?

Hey everyone,

about to get another GTX580 and will prob over clock it a little.

At the moment i have a XFX Pro 750W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply.

I got a intel i5-2500k OC to 4.0Ghz.


Will i need another PSU?

Atm im looking at the Corsair TX CMPSU-950TXUK 950W Power Supply (PSU).

I would go with 950W just to be on the safe side if I were you.

I have a corsair TX850 - fantastic PSU, I'm sure the 950 is just as good.

id personally go for a 950w or 1k just to be safe

Id go for 1000 watt to be safe. For overclocking headroom

If you're in the market for just Corsair then the closest you'll get is 50W either side of the 1000W mark.

I'm planning to SLI 580s on my 850W and have been advised that it should be fine even with moderate OC. My advice is just go with a 950W.

Just had a quick look at my system (one in sig) using a plug-in power monitor and got the following:

Idle (watercooled) 199w
CPU Load (Prime) 335w
GPU Load (Furmark) 390w
Prime & Furmark: 510w

Pretty good RJC for both together, when i had my cpu at 4.0ghz, with sli 470's running prime and furmark, i was hitting 860w on a corsair hx 850. Nearly freaked out.
