Hey,
maybe some of you are aware that I plan do watercool my system, and am planning how to cool my non-reference 6950.
at the moment there is this piece of metal on mosfets and ram etc :

am thinking about geting either aluminium or copper sheet and cut it to the same shape. Would it help getting heat of those parts ? I could always stick some extra heatsinks on it but then just heatsinks with no plate would look better and is easier to achieve :)

and what thickness of plate you would advise ?

(or maybe get more metal and make custom water block ;) )

I have the exact same card. The piece of metal you've show is all that cools the VRM and Ram and is not connected to the rest of the cooling system. You don't need any extra pieces of metal to cool those bits, they just don't run that hot.

I have the EK-VGA Supreme Universal water block on the GPU and then left that piece of metal to cool the other bits. Works like a charm :)
