Hey guys, according to dice, officially the minimum graphics card for running at high spec (I'm assuming with no aa, but I may be wrong) is the radeon hd6850.

But they also stated on twitter that to fully max it out dual gtx580's are recommended!

How can there be such a MASSIVE gap between high and ultra? Is that recommendation for running in 2560x1600?

Also, if the 6850 roughly = gtx460 1gb, for high settings, running in 1920x1080 with the specs in my sig, what can I expect to run on?

well i 'think' those requirements are not technically offical?
but this is the problem re min/recommended requirements its hard to say what visual quality is min/rec and also what resolution that applies to.

tbh a big requirement gap between high and max is not that strange, even with crysis you could actually play it and it would look good with modest gpu, but to max it properly you needed monster set up

Yeah. I can't actually max crysis properly, I have textures and rendering etc on very high, everything else on high and 4x aa running at 40 to 50 fps :L

I'm hoping that battlefield 3 will be at most, as demanding as crysis. Not more.

One thing for sure...let's hope games becoming more demanding is ACTUALLY improving graphic quality and details...we really could do without demanding for demanding's sake with basically minimal to no graphic improvement while cutting the frame rate down by 50% or more (i.e. Ubersampling in Witcher 2, tessellation in Crysis 2 etc).

Crysis was released in 2007 and with BF3 coming 4 years later I'd hope it to be somewhat more demanding, Especially at high/ultra.

It doesent always work like that though, I know crysis 1 was released in 2007, but even now it is considered the 'benchmark' from which all new graphics cards are judged.

It was quite an exception to the rule :l
