Just had a look over the car since it back from its MOT and found the bonnet and wings covered in marks. Looks like a host has been dragged over it a number of times. About 2 weeks previous I had spent a whole weekend machine polishing the bonnet, wings roof and boot up to a glass like finished. Annoyed is NOT the word.

Would take it back and moan but it was also at another garage the same day getting a tyre moved onto a new wheel (damn potholes) so could be either of them that did it.

How can people be so ******* careless is beyond me. Especially when dealing with a car that is obviously somebody's pride and joy and who will clearly not be coming back for more if they make a mess of it.

Didn't take any pics beforehand as I wanted to finished the car (doors, rear wings) before I took it somewhere for a photoshoot.

Why is it harsh though? Really how hard is it to NOT put marks all over somebody's car..

Don't want to mention any names as it could have been either of the places. Always had a good relationship with one of them so would be disappointed to find out it was them. Doubt I ever will mind.

Just got to suck it up and move on. Another day with the DA required I guess.

Well...I wouldn't have thought that changing tyres would cause marks on the bonnet or wing but I guess anything is possible. :p :o

possibilty of an airline being laid over the bonnet during a wheel change and possibility of the gas analyser hose being laid over the car for the emissions test, so as you say, could be either garage.

Pretty crap whoever did it, I wouldn't dream of dragging an airline over even the most crud like car I was working on.

Isn't it pretty common to at least put a rubber Matt over something like the wing or bonnet when working on the engine?

I know it's beside (besides?) the point but if you have polished/waxed it then at least the paintwork should be OK.

Ditto. You'd think people in the motor trade would have an understanding that people who clearly look after their car wouldn't want it being knocked around. Sigh.

As Scubascorpian says, it's more likely to be a hose or cable dragged over it than somebody leaning over the wing. Some of the marks continue off the bonnet and over the wing, so it's pretty clear what caused it really.

Don't think the wax has made much difference, and the the fact I had spent a weekend polishing it and getting it 'perfect' has only made the marks more obvious :p.

I had an egg thrown at the car the day after I had finished detailing as well. Makes me wonder if it's worth keeping it and spending money on it when everyone else seems so determined to spoil it .
