the iphone 4 is slower than the 3GS :/
I noticed that straight away in apple store on june 24th 2010 when I grabbed one from them and went to settings. The scrolling was lagging... you could just see it scrolling worse than in 3GS.

That isn't a funny joke.

I don't know about you but if I were looking for a new phone I would buy a used 4 for £300 or an Android phone if all they released was a speed bump at twice the price.

Well I have a 3G, I'm looking for a new phone and don't need the latest and greatest. I am waiting on the new phone purely to push the prices down of the last gen.

£300 for a used 4 makes no sense when I can likely pick up a new 4 or 4s with warranty for £400 in less than a month.

I'm not interested in android purely because they don't hold value for as long.

Well you wouldn't get a '4s' for £400, they would be £499, same as the top end iPhone always is (again, assuming they only realease a 4s).

Personally I think they'll release both a 5 and 4s.

^ I think he means the £400 8GB 3GS replacement. (Hehe, can't believe they still sell those :D)

The '4s' will either mean the iPhone 4 with upgraded internals or a cheap base version mainly designed for Asian markets (possibly with the iPod Touch screen etc)

Hopefully it'll be the cheap version with a proper iPhone 5.

You can get something like Sony Ericsson Arc free on a £11pm contract (300 mins/500mb etc)
That's almost a sim only contract so you don't need to worry about residuals. :)

A little heads up, my girlfriend works at the Apple Store and they are not letting anyone take any time off for holidays at the end of October/Start of November as thats when the new Phone/s will be in store.

Maybe that is in anticipation of mass returns due to signal issues :p

I bet they didn't mention the iPhone. :p

Yes because the technology jump was so HUGE in those 2 phones, The 3GS is MILES better than the normal 3G so people might of done that.

However with the Iphone4 ALREADY being superfast and the Iphone 5 will be around the same speed if not abit better. So theres no point of upgrading yet if you have a Iphone 4 as you WONT notice the speed difference

bull****, the ip4 is sloooow compared to dual core phones. I have the ip4 for work and an sgs2 for personal, and have to out the ip4 down and pick up the sgs2 on heavy websites as it takes so long to render them.

really noticeably different!

Yeah, me neither on a 1st gen! :D:p

lol, seriously web browsers really benefit from extra speed and cores. They render pages faster and use less power doing so.

We should see Macbook air type browsing performance sometime next year. Can't wait  (I won't be happy until they match 3GHz core2 quad core desktops)

The Galaxy S II handles larger sites better (and so it should), however, it doesn't load them much faster than the iPhone 4, it just doesn't suffer from chequer boarding when scrolling around a page with lots of images, etc.

In fact, there are plenty of sites that the Galaxy is actually slower at loading.

The difference is surprisingly small. I have them both and I've just compared. Although that Jimz guy is a bit simple and should be ignored anyway. :p

If it works as flawlessly as that article suggests I can imagine The Assistant being great for hands-free car usage.
