Virgin Media HD & Tivo Question(s)

It apparently gives you a serial number of the box it is going to be recorded in so I guess it us random. It is something virgin have overlooked as when it was launched it was supposed to be 1 TiVo per household but there was too much demand for multiroom TiVo.

Our TiVo guy is going to get the app team to look into it so hopefully you should be able to choose soon :)

Good stuff, i don't suppose its too big of an issue, just might end up confusing if i go to watch something and its recorded on the other box.

I believe there is a way of networking the 2 boxes to watch things off each other. Do you know if theres any development to integrate that into the Virgin box?

(P.S Unfortunately you have now become me askee of all things Virgin/Tivo!)

Streaming of recordings from TiVo to none TiVo boxes has always been something that virgin media have been intending to implement into the boxes and is one if the current projects along many other things (no spoilers from me)

Unfortunately there is no eta for this and also it looks like it will work wirelessly via USB but not sure if it is independent or requires a wireless router

Most of the projects are quite hush hush and I don't want to start any rumors.

I check the AV and Internet sections daily and will always try to answer any questions as best as I can

well we got our tivo installed yesterday, 500gb model. keep in mind i am coming from a standard vm box, not hd or plus, but i am very impressed. so much faster than the standard box, recording functionalty is great , really like it.

got the tivo coming on the 1st Oct and Upgrade my area to 100meg on the 13th too:D

Can't wait, but can't really complain about only being on 50meg when I know what some ppl are stuck on.

on the 100mb roll out update i've noticed Dudley is being upgraded in Oct 11. is this still going ahead do you know?!

Not too sure mate as they keep changing their minds all the time.

If I can ever get into the intranet some time tonight I'll have a look at the proposed roll out date for you mate

Dunno if you already knew this, but Virgin are also letting ppl that get a Tivo box keep the V+ box you already have for free in another room at no extra cost per month either. so for the £3 a month extra for the Tivo you get multiroom for free too:D. I would say that's a cracking deal.

Yes this is correct but if you already have multi room it works out better because they will drop the fee for 1 additional box meaning that you save £3 a month for taking out TiVo (multi room = £6 per additional box)

Still the same deal but that's how it works out if you already have multi room :)

Out of all the owners have you all had the update yet? If anything my box seems even slower and very unresponsive at times.

I powered it off and back on again which helped a little but still not much of an improvement speed wise. Is it possible to back date the firmware?

yeh my update came over the weekend, much much better - quicker to do everything now and less of the box going to the rubbish plain VM menus to do stuff.

thankful that they added the option to turn pin protection off that was really annoying me.
