I think I'm settled on getting the Samsung B2430H for my PC and Xbox 360 setup and just as a final thing before I buy it from OcUK tomorrow I'd like to be assured from someone that owns this monitor.

On some user reviews I've seen people saying when the brightness goes below a certain level, the monitor is prone to making an annoying high pitched sound. Has this ever happened to you? Would you recommend this monitor?

Cheers

Superb monitor, using mine connected via hdmi cable.
Great picture, sharp & clear, lovely for gaming.

But, I did have to reduce the brightness a bit down to 28,when first set up, other than that, I can't fault it.

And I don't have any whine, or other noises.

Have you ever tried connecting your PC via VGA? Just wondering because only a few days ago I had an Asus 24" and connecting via VGA wasn't good at all - Picture was very fuzzy.

I'll be playing Xbox 360 via HDMI and probabaly PC via VGA/DVI.

Cheers

I see you live in Stoke but I recommend you make use of the free delivery rather than get it from the shop.

If it has a few pixel faults, or you just don't like it for some reason, you won't be able to return it if you buy it in the shop.

If you have it delivered you can return it under the Distance Selling Regulations for a full refund no questions asked.

It wouldn't even cost you anything to return it as you can take it back yourself.

Thanks for the advice - But if I did buy it from the shop for instance and it did have a few dead pixels, wouldn't I be able to return it for an exchange anyway?

Cheers

It depends on Samsung's pixel policy.

Most monitors are allowed to have a certain number of dead/faulty pixels before the monitor is considered faulty.

Very few monitors have a zero pixel defect guarantee.

If your monitor has pixel faults that fall within the acceptable number allowed it wouldn't be considered as faulty and you may not able to return it.

Tom D haven't used vga connection for some years now, I couldn't even find a vga cable in my spares box to try it.

Usually use dvi, but had to use hdmi connection & continue to do so, when I misplaced the dvi cable moving house.
But, funny thing I've noticed the picture seem clearer & sharper using hmi connection, might be down to the quality of the cable I'm using..
