Failed my driving test this week... How many attempts did it take you?

I passed first time. Though, I've not seen anyone mention the other test that you take with your instructor after you've passed. It's not a must do. I took it anyway right after. Sadly I can't remember what it's called. Defensive driving? you've to go on the motorways and such and the super busy junctions. 45 minute test or something...

If you pass, it greatly helps reduce your insurance fees since you're a new driver. That's one of the main reasons I took it since you're such a high risk.

It's called Pass Plus. Or at least it was when I did it in 2005.:)

three times here. first failure was all my fault as i didnt check mirrors properly. Second time neither me or my instructor could work out why. Apparently it was failing to completely stop at a junction (no stop sign) which I wasn't aware was compulsory if the road is clear. Plus the place I supposedly didnt stop at would have required me go the wrong way down a 1-way street. Evidently the examiner had filled his quota for the day. Third time passed with 4 minors.

Failed twice and passed on the third.

First go - Great sunny day until my test. Started pouring down and I even said to the examiner that I will most likely fail.

Second go - Weather was perfect, everything was going smoothly until the last corner :(. Gave me a major for going over the lines while turning.

Third go - passed with 1 minor :)

So most passed 1st time, makes me feel great haha. I'm not too worried at the moment but I'm just really hoping I don't have to do it a 3rd or even more! Can imagine it knocks your confidence after a few times?

You'll probably find it isn't that most people passed first time, it's just that they are more like to come in the thread and gloat about it.

I passed first time as well though. ;)

I passed on second go.

On the first time round I failed by "nearly hitting a pedestrian".
It's not as bad as it seems though, the picture below shows the stupid round about with a crossing straight after a roundabout, the pink dot is the pedestrian, as I approached the crossing the pedestrian stepped out with 1 foot then back in again.

That's a zebra crossing is it not? They shouldn't have had to step back in.

Agreed that it seems like a stupid place for a crossing though.

13 minors and first time. 11 driving lessons with no other experience driving. Fluked it.

Haven't driven since, that was 6 years ago.

True, but had to explain myself so people don't think I just mowed through a person. Obviously learnt my lesson to pay more attention to what's happening on the side of the road as well as what's on the road.

Still to this day hate that round about even after driving on worse ones.

Pencil pushers in road design shocker...

The reason behind the growing number of ped crossings near roundabouts is the continued use of the mantra "speed kills" brigade.
So at the roundabout you are statisically going a lot slower than a straight road.

What they don't seem to have concluded in their tiny brains is that it is pretty much sensory overload trying to watch all junctions, cars pulling out, what lane to be in, indicator usage of both you and the other cars. then on top of all that, the need to watch for people stepping off a kerb.

2nd time. I actually did worse the 2nd time but on the first test I got the same minor 3 times which is a fail
