I was sitting in the passenger seat of my friend's car, and my friend was driving. His son (14 years old) was sitting behind my seat. His son had a coke can which was empty, and threw out of the window whilst the car was moving. My friend saw this and gave him a dirty look in the rear view mirror, but didn't say anything.

When all three of us got to my friends house, he gave his son a pair of gloves, a large black bin liner and told him to go out on the streets and pick up the litter he found on the floor - and not to return until the black bin liner was full of rubbish. His son wasn't happy!

To tell the truth I was cracking up! My gf thinks its harsh, I think it's justice. What do you think?

Absolutely fair in my book. It should give him a new perspective on littering and should certainly make him think twice about doing it in the future.

No perfectly fair, it will embarsse him more than anything infront of his peers and he will not do it again.

Good on him, the kid will grow up better for it as well.

I had some **** throw a coke bottle out of a car that was in front of me and it hit my car.

I was worried that the "dirty look" was the punishment. Good job. *notes down for later use*.

A fair and balanced punishment IMO.
I doubt he will do the same again.

I had the same punishment at school once, threw soemthing at the bin and missed but didn't pick up. Janitor saw me and dished otu the same punishment.

Good parenting, sorely lacking these days.

I hate it when people throw cigarette butts on the floor as they walk. The pavements are covered in them (and chewing gum). It's not just dodgy looking characters either - professional looking men and women do it too. Smokers 'ey...

That sounds more than fair to me. I don't understand why anyone litters when there is just no need. Them being lazy costs them a fortune in council tax.

When the time comes that is exactly the kind of punishment I'd be dishing out. I would have done more than just give him a look in the car though.

I suspect your GF would have gotten away with such things but you wouldn't?
