Battlefield 3 Specs?

Hey guys, I noticed a few days back that the Battlefield 3 specs have finally been released.

I'm aware that people have different views on how game developers bench their games (for example people think that if they can max out bad company 2 with nice frame rates they SHOULD be able to play Battlefield 3 comfortably. Others think that the "recommended" specs are simply a guideline for how your system should look if you want to even play the game on lowest settings).

So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how my system might cope?
I'm not THAT fussed about maxing it out, I just want it too look rather pretty with a smooth framerate. (I hope it can I'm broke atm as I've only just bought this rig).

My system:

i5-2500k @ 3.8Ghz
8GB Rip Saw 1600Mhz
XFX Radeon 6850 XXX @ 875/1125

Thanks guys..

Basically if you want high settings with smoothness you need atleast a 3gig quad core and a mid-range or better DX11 GPU with 1+gig VRAM. If you want ultra settings smooth you will need atleast 3.5gig quad core and a high end DX11 GPU with more than 1gig VRAM.

It should be possible to get it looking pretty and play smooth on a 6850 tho, may need to turn down the odd setting but mostly should be able to turn stuff up - obviously won't be able to play with maxed out ultra settings if the shipped version has them like the development build has - as that will push a decently overclocked GTX580 pretty hard.

You should be rightly set with that rig, hope my phenom quad core at 3.4, hd 5700 plays it ok will probly upgrade the graphics card to a 6950 if the game struggles

Yes you high end graphics card and overclocked brand new cpu wont cope.

sorry.

Go play tetris.

Troll is obvious so as for actual advice I would say it depends on your screen res. If you have a 27" or 30" screen then yes it might cause problems. As for a 20" - 24" you will be fine.

Yeah screen res has some impact (the physical dimensions don't :P), but I usually assume ~1920x when reccomending specs. Trying to play Ultra settings + AA w/ a 2560x panel is gonna cause most single GPUs to cry.
