Just curious as to what OcUK's rock lovers favourite lyrics are.

Here's some of mine to get us started:

Nirvana - dumb
I'm not like them
But I can pretend
The sun is gone,
But I have a light
the day is done,
I'm having fun
I think I'm dumb
Or Maybe just happy

Metallica - The house that Jack built
The higher you are
The farther you fall
The longer the walk
The farther you crawl
My body, my temple
This temple, it tilts
Yes, this is the house that Jack built

My favourite rock lyrics are by The Macc Lads so I can't put them here.
However not many bands can rhyme George Michael with menstrual cycle.

Reminded me of:

Bloodhound gang - Three point one four
I need to find a new vagina,
Any kind of new vagina,
It's hard to rhyme a word like vagina,
Calvin Klein? Kind of North Carolina

Anything from Fear's "The Record" album. I particularly like the lyrics for this track

and

I love livin' in the city [x2]

My house smells just like the zoo,
It's chock full of **** and puke!
Cockroaches on the walls
Crabs crawlin' on my balls!
Ohh, but I'm so clean cut,
I just wanna **** some *****!

I love livin' in the city [x2]

Spent my whole life in the city,
Where junk is king and the air smells ******.
People pukin' everywhere.
Piles of blood, scabs and hair.
Bodies wasted in defeat,
People dyin' on the street,
But the suburban scumbags, they don't care,
Just get fat and dye their hair!

I love livin' in the city [x2]

I love livin' in the city [repeat]

As for the Bloodhound Gang, I think my favourite lyrics from them are for "A lap dance is so much better when the stripper is crying".

Heh, saw the Macc Lads a few times in my youth :p

But for me, you can't beat Frank Zappa

Try it on a Saturday 'bout four o'clock in the mornin' Or even a Monday at midnight When there's just a few of them Fabulous Poodles Doin the Peppermint Twist for real

In black sack dresses with nine inch heels

And then a guy with a blue mohawk comes in In Serious Leather. ..

(And all the rest of whom for which To whensonever of partially indeterminate Bio-chemical degradation Seek the path to the sudsy yellow nozzle Of their foaming nocturnal Parametric digital whole-wheat inter-faith Geo-thermal terpsichorean ejectamenta)

In Serious Leather. . .Serious Chains

I'm through with standing in line
To clubs we'll never get in
It's like the bottom of the ninth
And I'm never gonna win
This life hasn't turned out
Quite the way I want it to be

Obviously..

Personal favourite.

Billy Talent - Worker Bees.

March on, worker bees!
Know your enemy!

We take our orders given by the queen
We're not the killers, we're the worker bees
If you resist us you will feel our sting
Surrender now before the swarm sets in

Protect the hive from enemies!
Protect the hive from enemies!
Follow the herd mentality!
Can we fight to save our souls?

March on, worker bees!
Know your enemy!

A pollination coming from the west,
And in a flash we will invade your nest
Supply of honey flowing bottomless
Play by our rules or you'll be powerless

Protect the hive from enemies!
Protect the hive from enemies!
Follow the herd mentality!
Can we fight to save our souls?
And we'll march... along, with our blindfolds on
And we'll ride... the rails, with our pistols drawn
Can the Lord... above, forgive what we've done?
Can we fight to save our souls?

And we'll march... along, with our blindfolds on
And we'll ride... the rails, with our pistols drawn
Can the Lord... above, forgive what we've done?
Can we fight to save our souls?

Can we fight to save our souls?
Will we die to save our home?

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced the're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the Forest,
And the Creatures all have fled,
As the Maples scream oppression,
And the Oaks just shake their heads.

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"These oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

I like It's Only Rock N' Roll...Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger

If I could stick my pen in my heart,
I would spill it all over the stage.
Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya,
Would you think the boy is strange?
Ain't he strange?

If I could win ya, if I could sing ya
a love song so divine,
Would it be enough for your cheating heart
If I broke down and cried? If I cried?

I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it.
I know it's only rock'n roll but I like it,
like it, yes, I do.
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it.

I said can't you see that this old boy
has been a lonely?

If I could stick a knife in my heart,
suicide right on stage,
Would it be enough for your teenage lust,
Would it help to ease the pain? Ease your brain?

If I could dig down deep in my heart
feelings would flood on the page.
Would it satisfy ya, would it slide on by ya,
would ya think the boy's insane? He's insane.
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it.
I said I know it's only rock'n roll
but I like it, like it, yes, I do.
Oh, well, I like it, I like it, I like it.

I said can't you see that this old boy
has been a lonely?
And do ya think that you're the only girl around?
I bet you think that you're the only woman in town.

I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it.
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it.
I said I know it's only rock 'n roll but I like it,
like it, yes, I do.
Oh, well, I like it, I like it. I like it...

One of my favourite songs lyrically is Yes by the Manic Street Preachers but it's got a fair few swear words, so I won't post the lyrics.

I also love the lyrics to this.

+1, refreshing to hear a band write lyrics that aren't left-leaning.

Pink Floyd's Time is one of the best, also.
