Hi folks, sorry if this has been repeated countlessly, but I'm just looking for an opinion on what graphics card to pick out between the two listed in the subject.

I'm building a PC ideally to play Battlefield 3, and the two are roughly the same price from a retailer. I was wondering what people here prefer out of the two. I understand the 6950 might be more suitable for a dual graphics card setup, but I'm not really looking that far, nor can I stretch the budget at this point in time :|

Personally as I have a 6950, They're amazing cards for money and when the 7xxx series are released they will drop in price enabling you to purchase another like I have just done a second ago 2 6950'S ;D

Thanks for the reply guys, really appreciate it :)

@Masterdeadly: I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford another 6950! My last build was back in 2004, I don't have much money to priortize on upgrades these days. I'll keep that in mind though, as the new 7 low-mid end 7 series is coming out soon?

They're very evenly matched. :) Personally I'd spend a few extra beans and get the 2GB 6950, it's not that much more and the 2GB RAM will futureproof you a bit better than the 1GB from the 560ti and 1GB 6950, especially if you're playing at higher resolutions.

Yeah, I've been looking at benchmarks from Anandtech, Toms Hardware, ***** etc. They outperform each other on groups of games, which makes picking one harder :(. Unfornately, I can't push my budget up to 2gb, the cheapest being about £30/£40 than the two I listed? Otherwise, I would have just gone for that.

Out of the two, the 560Ti because it overclocks very well.

Is it possible to OC factory-overclocked models? I've heard good things about the MSI 560ti, and I noticed that it's an OC version, not sure how much leeway i''ll have in terms of overclocking it more?

560ti, unless playing at very high resolutions.

I'm going to aim for 1920x1080 and 1920x1200, mainly because that's all the monitors I have support.

I`ve got MSI GTX560ti Twin Frozr II, really quiet and i mean quiet. I play Deus HR, Crysis 1&2, Witcher2 and most other games on very high to extreme. Best £140+ i ever spent. But if it struggles with BFC3, then i may look at getting the MSI 560 2GB.

Given the performance difference between the two in marginal a performance relate argument is a mute point IMO and overclocking is always hit and miss no matter which card you buy (trust me I've owned loads of video cards in my time and they never overclock as well as the vague colloquial chat you get on forums suggests).

I would recommend you make your choice based on warranty, cooler/HSF, games provide and you get for the overall package. Both seem like a good card so I doubt your going to be disappointed with either.

I would go with the 560. I've always been ATI until I went with a GTX 570 in my current build and I'm sad to say games are just better optimised as a rule for nvidia. Not all but the ones I play like Starcraft 2 etc

I wouldn't worry about the ram so much tbh. My card 'only' has 1.3gb and it handles everything on max no probs.

Both the MSI and Gigabyte look good. I'd be inclined towards the ocuk palit one. £125 with free batman game when its released is a no brainer.

I personally wouldn't go for the TI version, I woudl save the £50 difference and get a 570 if I was inclined to get something more than a standard 560.

Bloody hell I thought that was the deal of century for a moment there until I discovered it was the non 'ti' model.

The GTX560 is the diet version of the two cards and is comparable to the Radeon 6870.

Still given the small difference between the ti and the 570 I would just save and get the 570, especially if it is going to be a single card solution for the forseeable future

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I decided to go for the MSI 560ti in the end, mainly because of the good reviews it recieved, and because I couldn't find any reviews on the particular 6950 model I was looking at. I was hoping to maybe wait until benchmarks for BF3 beta to come out first, but unfortunately I have to commit to a build very soon.

@welshdragon I'd love to have gone for the 570, but I don't have much leeway on the budget. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Cheers again guys. To give an idea on hwere I stand, the graphics card I'm using now is the 6800 GT. As you can iamgine, games these days don't run very well on it :D
