Virgin 100Meg-Anyone connected to Withington UBR?

Hi All,

I have been having REIN issues with my FTTC service since January this year and to cut a long story short BTOR have refused to assist any further even though the REIN fault is still there.

I am considering moving over to Virgin's 100Meg service as the coax cable is not affected by REIN.

As I am in the Didsbury area it's likely I will be connected to the Withington UBR and I was wondering if anyone who is already connected to this UBR could tell me their experiences especially with latency during peak periods? As I play online games quite a bit latency is quite important. I used to get 12ms on my FTTC service but this has almost tripled as interleaving steadily increases on the line due to the REIN.

Thanks in advance.

I live in Withington and I don't have any bandwidth, latency or packet loss issues on my 100mbit. Pings are similar to those I previously had on Bethere fastpath.

Previously to this I'd been on ADSL for so long that I can't remember how to extract the UBR info from a tracert. Is it the 2nd hop?

Hi FrenchTart,

I believe it is on the second hop yes. Just as a matter of interest what pings do you get on average?

Thanks

Pretty much the same as they were in Be to be honest. I get ~14 when I ping jolt (or I did before jolt started timing out, but it does that on all the connections I have access to so I assume it's not a VM thing). In games this creeps up to 30 at times.

Eh? What has that got to do with any of what we were talking about? VM webhosting?
