8Gig Modules from Patriot!

I dread to think, he never said :/
Well if its £60 for 8 Gigs atm. And they're from Patriot who's RAM isn't the cheapest anyway. I cringe when I think.

How much are they going to be?

There's a place in the States selling single strips for $239 and a 16Gb kit for $459 - but how representative this is i don't know as i haven't found it anywhere else for comparison.

At that price i would happily fill all my DIMM slots to make 16Gb (4 x 4Gb) - as the SB will usually accomodate them with zero problems, even with a clock (as you've experienced yourself). Probably be quite a while yet before prices become accessible for the average Jo...

Considering 8Gb and 16Gb DDR3 sticks have been available in the server space for ages this doesn't seem much of an announcement :)

Very true, but i think the OPs post was to show that 8Gb strips may now (emphasis on may) slowly start to filter into your average computer retailers (For those prepared to pay the premium).

i.e. it may start to become less of a specialist item and price.

Having said that, 4Gb strips took an age...

From what I've heard 4 can make things slightly unstable.

Plus it's personal preference, leaves room for upgrade in the future if we ever need more than 16gb :p

Maybe if the mobo can't handle it :p No problems here from skt 775 to lga1155, both heavily OCd setups and both running normal Corsair XMS/Vengeance RAM!
