Has anyone dealt with Mobiles.co.uk before? I've found a plan for a phone I'd really like, with a 9-month free gift that makes it almost too good to be true.

A few questions:

  1. The network is Orange - will I still get Orange Wednesdays?
  2. Mobiles.co.uk make a claim that their phones are unlocked - is this true?
  3. Are there any hidden charges?
  4. The data plan includes 750MB data, but doesn't specify whether it includes BB services or not - can I assume it does?
  5. What's their customer service like, aside from being closed on weekends?
  6. Will I effectively be using the Orange network (decent coverage), or another?
  7. What do I have to do to get my 9-month free redemption, and is it fast?
  8. The deal lists Gadget Helpline (£20.16 for 6 months) and PhoneCare Insurance (£7.99pcm) as being first month free, but cancel-able at any time - I don't want these at all, can I can call and cancel them right away and avoid any charges?

Many thanks!

They did pay my quidco after about 3 months of £63

    Yes

    Think so

    Nope

    Not sure on that one.

    Its ok.

    It will be on Orange.

You have to send your bill off every 2/3 months, you should get an email that tells you when and what bill you should send to them.

You can call/email them to cancel it, make sure you do it ASAP.

Many thanks!

Orange and tmobile share their networks these days for calls and text (not data) .

You can download you bill as a pdf from orange and email the pdf to mobiles.co.uk for the redemption. ..... makes it easy.

Mobiles.co.uk is part of car phone warehouse so should be ok, my experiense over the past 2 years has been fine with redemption cheques taking a couple of weeks to come through after ive emailed my bill to them.

Wifey bought her contract SGS2 from Mobiles.co.uk and had no problems. She said cancelling her Gadget & Insurance rubbish was really easy.

You can get the data switched to a BB one for free. However, I don't know how that affects the redemption.

Answers to the other stuff is easy enough.

you need to pick the contract thats right for you, and in terms of unlocked, its probably depending on the phone, my 5800 from buymobilephones (same group) has t mobile branding. But even if its locked some middle eastern dude off ebay will probably unlock it for u for 2 quid :D

They were excellent, but be careful of the extra that you have to cancel.

I bought a HD Desire HD with £50 cash back on the cost of the phone via Quidco. I got cashback within about 2 months.

The phone was faulty at first, but exchanged it swiftly and now everything is fine.

However, they do try and sign you up to Geeksquad and something else - even when I exchanged phone so had to do that which was a bit of a nuisance, so watch out for that.

I purchased a phone from them on the talkmobile network and it was unlocked, been using it on O2.

It came with free gadget care and insurance, neither of which I needed. Managed to cancel both of them over the phone within 2 minutes each.

Thumbs up from me so far.

guys cba calling customer services but is it normal for your first bill to be £43 on a £30 contract with talkmobile? Haven't gone over my minute allowance, assuming this is a normal first bill procedure?

that something to do with pro rata minutes isn't it - because you first month include the extra days before your first billing period.

Around 2 weeks in your case
