Anyone have difficulty remember names?

It's something I can't quite get my head around. I'm brilliant at recalling visual things, faces and so on. Example; We were walking around town and I pointed out 'that's the girl who served us on the plane two years ago'. I can remember precisely every item of clothing my other half was wearing on all of our dates, 3 years ago. Anything visual is retained instantly but I forget the names of half the people I work with!

I pretty much forget everyone's name. I'm not really that good with faces either. Often wind up feeling like a ____ for forgetting people.

For a while I usually pre-empted that by telling them I'd forget their name and not to be offended, though I'm not sure that really helps haha.

I have the same problem, ive got a pretty good memory for everything else but im terrible at remembering peoples names some of whom I work with almost everyday.

I'm generally good with names, unless alcohol has been involved.

One time I bumped into a girl in Woolworths who started chattering on to me like I should know exactly who she was. I blagged it and got the hell out of there.

Realised later that night that she was my mate's sister who I'd got off with at his party the night before.

God this used to happen a lot at uni.
People would see me, stop and chat. All the while me having no recollection of who they were.

It wasn't always a successful blag though :(

It might be worth looking at memory tricks if this is something that bothers you e.g. linking the name to a particular clue.

I'm quite fortunate in that I don't normally suffer from an inability to remember peoples names or faces. Occasionally however I do find that if I've met someone at a party I'll be fine with their name for the night but if I don't expect to ever see them again it's obviously been filed under the memories equivalent of short term storage because if I meet them subsequently I might struggle to remember them.

I sometimes deliberately forget people's names in order to re-affirm their insignificance to me.

Who's with me?

Dunno who IS with ya (forgot their name) :D

Happened to me on Sunday met a mum who remembered my name and my son's name. I didn't even know who she was :( felt like a right diddy especially when my son said "who is she dad?" after 5 mins of convo.... lol

I have issues with names at first, which makes the usual awkward social interactions just that bit more awkward. If I'm not careful, I forget completely and spend the rest of my time always going "Hey...you!" and such. :o

I'm terrible at it.

I hate the awkward feeling of having to ask after a stupid amount of time.

For example, turning up at a new work place, and after two weeks having to ask one of your closest work mates what his name is. Because you havn't actually had to use it until then.
